I don't know you but yet I really do from all your posts for so many months. You are such a kind, careing, loving person & also a very wise women. All volunteers are such great people giving all they can & more just because they have so much love in them & want to make a difference. Sadly it's the volunteers & the lower paid employees & the people or animals that get hurt the most. The thread on King County Shelters same thing only worse. A couple great employers & lots of great volunteers and all they where ever told was no (toy, blankets, walking, even cleaning cages, etc.). The top has all the say so yet doesn't do much work. I don't want to offend you, I don't know for sure you religon, but please let me tell you what I believe. My God knows you and what all you have done. He brought you and that beautiful Kitty into this world He will not take people's free will away but he will bless you in the end. I know the pain in your heart may ease a tiny bit but it will never go away and it hurts. But someday all pain will go away and be replaced with such a great love that it is impossible to comperhend. You and that beautiful Kitty will be together again circled by love and all pain will be taken away. Count on it. I hope i didn't offend you by anything i said. Well, the humane society where I live has a nice facility, looks good on the outside, does some spay/neuter, education, etc but the CEO is a jerk! He is all about schmoozing and looking good while the volunteers and some of the employees actually run the shelter. They TALK about wanting to reduce the number of euthanasias, but there isn't a whole lot that they do to make it happen. I have the luxury to put a DO NOT PUT TO SLEEP on animals I take in because I have volunteered and donated a lot of time and money to them. I must admit that it has come a long way since the days when the employees could walk through the shelter and pull a certain kind of animal because "there are already too many black and white cats". However, they still kill way too many animals often for space. When we get a board of directors or employees who really want to make a difference, the CEO either fires them or makes life so miserable that they leave. This spring he was put on a one week leave of absence but the board members who tried to get him out ended up quitting. So, for all the caring and concerned people who really believe we can save more animals, we could save a lot more if we had a director who was willing to make the necessary changes. Attitudes make all the difference in the world. I no longer volunteer there because of a beautiful little chocolate and white long haired kitten I tried to foster 2 years ago. At only 7 months they deemed her "unadoptable" because she was skittish and shy. Even with the huge fuss I made, they were unwilling to let me foster her. Basically I was told that they had made a decision and I was not to question that! Don't know why they were hell bent on killing her right then, why they couldn't have give me time to socialize her, but that was the last straw for me!
