Adopted Kitten Dies From Eating Recalled Food

SushiThe Oregon Humane Society has confirmed that an adopted kitten, 6-month-old Sushi, died from eating contaminated food.

Sushi was healthy when she was adopted from the shelter on April 16. A month later she was displaying signs of kidney failure. Eventually they learned that Sushi’s new owner was feeding Sushi Spa Select kitten dry food which was recalled on April 19th. Lab results confirmed that there was melamine in Sushi’s urine and kidneys. Sushi was euthanized after a diagnosis of acute kidney failure.
