My dog Pepper got sick on the 6th of Nov 2009 after I feed her Purina ALPO Prime cuts “Homestyle”. That was only one can. She stopped eatting after that. I have a nickname for her “my little piggy”. She has now stopped eatting and going on the second night. I rubbed her tummy and she felt better but now this is the 7th. She is now not even not going out the door to outside. she loves running and loves barking. I am very upset now and she looks very sad. what the Heck why dont companies help out “us who buy their products”. I am now thinking of looking into the computer for now on and looking and surching all products I buy for my dogs. My can dog food I just bought three days ago along with pedigree cans of dog food sit on my self. I am going to put them somewhere and if she gets very sick I will be very very unhappy. I will be taking her to the vet asap. I didnt know this was happening and I have given her a second can tonight. Here I got trusting companies and thinking they are on our side. I am very unhappy and now Pepper my australian sheppered is so slow and sad she doesnt even want to go outside and just stays in. I am reading the sad emails now and I can’t believe a company will go out of their way just to make a buck. I will now not buy any products from ALPO, my dog is like a baby for me and I got her as a companion for me and my wife and daisy my pit/lab after my dad passed away. I dont know what to do and I just feel alone in a small spot in a big world.

I just buried my Pomerian after she ate Alpo Come ‘N Get It dry food. She experienced extreme weakness & vomiting. Four days later she died at the vet. Vet wasn’t sure what caused her death. My other dog ate the same food a week later & vomited all of the food up. That is what makes me think the Alpo was bad.

I just buried my nine year-old malamute this afternoon. We were out of town a couple days and left Alpo come and get it mixed grill- dry dog food out for him…first time we’d used it. Got calls from the neighbors that the dog was comatose, then died. When I came home there was chewed up dog-food vomit in three places in the yard. I can’t prove it, but I think Alpo poisoned my beloved companion of 9 years.

My pet died after I rewarded him with Alpo as a treat one afternoon. He seemed ok the next day but two days later he was not him self and died there after. He was the only one that died. I gave my cat some of the alpo but she got sick for about a week and then seem to shake it off. I am upset he was my baby Shooby Smack was his name we called him smack and I still get very sad about loosing him and after I found that the Alpo was recalled I think that is what killed him. Sad in Alabama he was a Beautiful Boston Terrier .

It is with so much saddness that I write about my 3yr old Cocker Spaniel who just passed away today. From one day to the next she passed away. The night before her death she seemed a little out of it but it had been raining (she hated the rain) so we thought she was just down. Didn’t think of the recalls or have any clue about the dog food. I fed her Alpo Dry Dog Food, come and get it mixed grill. I purchased around a month ago. We had her shots up to date, gave her heart worm pills and we just couldn’t explain what caused her death. I knew the Alpo recall was for Wet Food but not the one I was feeding her until I read all the posts and found out that we should’ve stayed away from ANYTHING ALPO!!! MY poor baby girl…I’ll pray for her and always remember her…God bless and remember all dogs/cats go to heaven.

This is ridiculous beyond belief. I fed my dog of 12 years Alpo prime cuts and he became gravely ill. He could not stand or walk and became violently ill. He died and we did nothing different except feed him the night before. The pain and suffering my wife and I went through was beyond belief. I am still upset after going through the serial numbers. As for Alpo, I suggest you do some more checking because your numbers are not complete. Try April 2009, 71091159, L64962156. I implore people not to trust the serial numbers on the cans. My Casey payed the price and I am still shocked over it.

my beloved dog frankie became very sick after eating alpo dog food . For a long time i feed him alpo before it went on the list as part of the food that was poisioned . my dog almost died due to the neglecence of alpo . i don’t think these people reliaze that these pets become just like our children not just property as i have heard them called . The only thing i can compare it too is if someone was poisioning your father,mother,or children would they be called proerty ( I don;t thinhk so). I took my dog to the fvet and thank god he gave use anti biotics. I beleave thyat is what saved his life . But frankie is still not the same nor do i believe he will become 100% i (realizes alpo does not think animals are worth much but to we that love them and cry for there pain and lose you are very wrong

I LOST MY 10 MONTH OLD MINATURE POODLE MIRACLE. HE HAT THE ALP PRIME CUTS IN THE CAN. HE WAS RUSHED TO THE VET THE NEXT MORNING LETHARGIC, AND VOMITING. HE WAS TO PUT TO SLEEP. THE VET HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MIRACLE . EVEN THOUGH MY DOG DIED OCTOBER 2006, HE HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS , HE DIED FOR NO REASON, AND MENU FOODS AND ALPO NEED TO WIDENED THEIR SEARCH NOT JUST DEC 2006 BECAUSE THE FIRST COMPLAINT. WHAT ABOUT THE DOGS WHO DIED BEFORE THAN AND THE OWNERS DID NOT KNOW WHY!!!!!!!!! INVESTIGATE PLEASE THIS INCIDENT GOES WAY BACK

My precious Sandy has always eaten ALPO Prime Cuts. She quit eating, started drinking an excessive amount of water and vomiting. I took her to the Vet and was told she had about two days left if I hadn’t brought her in when I did. They flushed the toxins out of her system but she has lost 75% of her kidney function. The Vet bill was $900.00 and she will never be the same. Yes, Salina, someone should be held accountable!

I am so overwhelmed by the loss of my preciuos 8 year old cocker spanial. She has eaten canned alpo for awhile. last night I came home and she was not eating, which was very unusal. I brought her inside and called the vet, sadly, he was closed. I called 2 other vets and they to was closed. I decided to take her 70 miles to the nearest open vet, however, she died in my arms before I could get out the door. I called my vet this morning and asked what could of happened because he just seen her 3 days before when giving her annual shots. I was informed about the alpo recall. I really felt like choking someone to death. I feel like I killed my dog by feeding her what I thought was a good dog food brand. Now, I am worried about my other 4 dogs, whom also has eaten the same brand. If anyone can tell me how to look up the recall lot numbers on the alpo, please let me know. I buy the twelve pack cans and I have some of them left. I would really like to see if what I have is what may have killed my baby. Someone needs to answer to these deaths!!! Salina !-803-482-7001
