WTF is with this seemingly recent anti-TNR trend? I don't get it. There are people looking after these animals and trying to bring the numbers down as well as fight disease among the animals.

Why is it a problem NOW, if this colony has been there for DECADES?

What a load of crap!

These people suck!

Sounds like the animal control in Puerto Rico, are you sure they aren't going to throw them off a cliff? if they have been there for years, how come they are a hazard now? oh that's right, the people who are supposed to be fighting terrorism have nothing better to do then kill cats who aren't hurting anyone. Our government tax dollars at work. I'm so glad they are protecting me from feral cats instead of terrorists.

I wish there was a better place for these cats. For heavens sake, let the rescuers trap, neuter/spay and relocate those cats to a safer environment. They don't deserve to die!

The Port Authority is removing the cats; the cats that can be adopted will be, but feral cats are impossible to adopt out and will probably be euthanized. The cats, by the way, have been there for a long time. This isn't something that happened overnight.

IN DEFENSE OF ANIMALS ACTION ALERT:

Departure Delayed! Protest the Killing of Cats at JFK Airport by Port Authority

What: In Defense of Animals (IDA) / Neighborhood Cats

Protest of JFK Airport
Feral Cat Extermination
Date: Monday October 29, 2007
Time: 12:00-1:00pm (Rain or shine!)
Location: Port Authority of NY and NJ Headquarters
225 Park Ave South (between 18th &19th Streets, just north of Union Square)
Manhattan

It's crucial to keep the heat on starting again on Monday, so we're taking to the streets! Most importantly, bring yourself, especially at noon. And if you can, break out those cat ears, claws and tails (good visuals!) and make
your own posters (we'll provide some, too). Time to bare our teeth and claws and let the Port Authority know they work for US and we won't tolerate the senseless eradication of cats in our city!!

For more info:
headcat@neighborhoodcats.org
eastcoast@idausa.org
212-662-5761

from Neighborhood Cats:
They're telling callers that none of the 50 to 75 feral cats slated for trapping this weekend will be not (sic) killed but will all be adopted into homes - yeah, right! Please call or write again and tell them you don't buy it - boy, they
think we're real dumb. Cats down jets and ferals are all quickly adoptable.

Press links are below, plus story will be on local radio and TV. Keep the heat on!
