Boy Asks For Pet Food, Supplies To Donate To Animal Shelter For His Birthday
Adam Bahus may not be your typical eight-year-old boy. For his birthday, he didn’t want a basketball, a video game, or the newest toy in stores. Instead this second-grader asked his friends to bring items that he could donate to the Terre Haute Humane Society in Indiana.
Adam and his parents handed out copies of the Humane Society’s wish list to his friends before his birthday party. Adam’s friends gave him pet food, newspapers, trash bags and other supplies the shelter needs.
“It was his idea. He loves animals. He wanted to make sure they had toys,†said Adam’s mother.
Adam, his brother, and his cousin personally delivered all of the supplies to the animal shelter.
Adam said he just wants to make the animals feel at home when they are at the shelter.
Adam’s father said that Adam has been an animal lover for most of his life, and whenever the family visits an animal shelter, Adam “wants to take [all of the animals] home.”

This little boy has a great heart and his parents and or relatives have done SOMETHING oh so right. I hope that the shelter screens the food and treats for any recalled products. Adam and his brother and his cousin are nice boys.

Adam is a great little boy to get this going with his friends. I’m sure his generous actions will pay forward due to the well-deserved publicity.

What an exceptional 8 year old! I am reminded of the animal shelter that took the dog away from the 11 and 12 year old sisters, that Ellen DeGeneres had given them, because they never let their dogs go to homes with kids under 14 “for the protction of the dogs.” The girls had bonded with and loved the dog. Baloney. As this fellow shows, even kids much younger than 14 can be loving and responsible with animals. And 17 year olds can be monsters…

This young man has a beautiful old soul. His parents should be VERY proud of him. May he never outgrow his generous spirit.

When I worked at the SPCA where I used to live, we had a couple of kids bring in donated items they requested for their birthday parties. I couldn’t believe the amount of things they brought in. What great kids!
