Buyers Beware

PuppiesFor those of you looking to buy a puppy, beware that there are scammers out there wanting to take your money. Fake breeders and scammers are posting advertisements online or in the newspaper and selling puppies from out of state at incredibly low prices, but the puppy never comes and the money is gone. The Better Business Bureau is alerting consumers since this problem is rapidly increasing. Even some of these scammers are using pictures of dogs from other websites to scam consumers. Some things to watch out for in bogus breeders is if they don’t accept personal checks and demand wired money and promise that the puppies will be delivered within 24 hours.

As an addendum, the AKC has some good info on getting referrals to reputable breeders. See http://www.akc.org/breederinfo/breeder_search.cfm
