But they are protected.They watch birds and eat grass and chase bugs. When they have had enough out side time ,they climb up their shelf steps and in the house, safe and tired . Working with rescues groups, the horrors that await a cat or dog, is too hard for me to live with. Safe, not sorry is my life style for my "angels". My cats love the "adventure " of the out doors,........but they want the safety of the house if scared by lighting or storms. Then consider me "cruel". If this had happen to me I would have wrecked my van, seeing my cat hit the pavement at sixty miles per hour. many of my fur babies are close to twenty and in great shape. Know why ? Care and NOT being permitted out side. I love them too much to run this type of risk. I hope this cat heals quickly and the owner builds a cat patio for him so he can have a long and safe life. Sad, people just do not think of pet safety, first. When i was very young (maybe 6 or 7) i remember that our pet cat crawled up into the car's engine. Apparently (and duh, when you're 37... but not when you are 7) the like the heat. Sadly, she lost her leg when we turned on teh car engine. but not her life. poor kitties. and poor owner. I couldn't imagine seeing my dear cat fall onto the road !
