While it is true that many are relegated to lap dog positions due to their delicate structure, make no mistake - these bright and feisty little dogs have no problem standing their ground and taking on anything a hundred times their size. It's the size of their "heart" (Intestinal fortitude and innate desire to protect those they care about) that marks them as great dogs to have as a part of your family. While they have no say in which family they may be a part of, rest assured that once they are in the family, they are there heart and soul. The diminutive Chihuahua is often looked upon as a toy, or a lap dog.
