*sigh* I’m sorry if some people think the outrage over Vick’s dogfighting/gambling/dog murdering is a tempest in a teapot and more important issues are being ignored. However, dogfighting, overbreeding and irresponsible ownership of “pit bulls,” breed specific legislation, consumer discrimination (insurance companies refusing to insure households with certain breeds of dogs, and rental companies refusing to lease to applicants with certain breeds of dogs), and perhaps most of all, the myths and public misperceptions about the “pit bull” breeds, are tops on my list of animal welfare issues.

No, I don’t think the pet food crisis is over, and no, I don’t feel the pet food companies - or the FDA - have been appropriately dealt with. One thing I do know is that thousands more pit bulls are killed *every* year - in animal shelters, by negligent or abusive owners, and in dogfighting pits - than pets were sickened and killed by tainted food over the last year. That is NOT to say that one issue is more important than another. (I would say the same thing to anyone who says animal cruelty and dogfighting are non-issues compared with child abuse, spousal abuse, murder, etc.) There is enough outrage to go around for ALL of these things, and attention to one does necessarily exclude activism for another.

As the human cohort of a loving American Pit Bull Terrier, Bunny, it’s true that the Vick debacle consumes a lot of my attention lately. But I have not forgotten about the poisoned food, the poisoners, the liars, the politicians, and the profiteers.

And trust us, Andrew, if some white guys get convicted for dogfighting and are sent to jail, everyone single person on this blog will dance in the streets. We want dogfighting stopped period.

I am sick of ignorant, violent people. The ones that engage in dogfighting and the unintelligent fools that support and excuse them. This is what a lack of education and the refusal to become civilized and responsible citizens will produce. Also, this has nothing to do with race, religion or nationality. I know white, brown and black people that have absolutely no regard for any life form other than their own. It’s call being a sociopath. And that doesn’t discriminate.

Andrew, this is not about color or money. It’s about compassion and caring for all living creatures. There are a lot of black “heroes” who make the world a better place, and I wish they were the ones who got more press. Pits are wonderful dogs and it’s the people who make them vicious and mean.
I wouldn’t change places with these guys for all the money in the world. Jealous? NOPE!!!

Jealous of that trash? Puhlease. pull your head out of your posterior regions and WAKE up.
NO one is jealous of people like this. Normal humans are disgusted with them on a visceral level (get a dictionary of you don’t know the meaning of the word) that makes you want to puke your guts out every time you hear their name or see their face.
Besides, why be jealous of someone who is going to prison or who is going to end up dead in a few years due to gang violence?

why do i get the feeling that all comments other than mine left on this page are left by white people…jealous of the fact that dmx hase money and yall dont…boxing, UFC and all other shows that come on the VS channel even hockey have brutal outcomes…but when a territorial animal kills another its wrong…i guess God messed up when he made pitbulls.

All the Dog fighters (animal abusers, torturers and murderers) need to be “euthanized” and “put down”. I really like Donna’s comment above. But of course first take E. Hamilton’s resolve on that and seize ALL their assets.

One question: While Vick’s snitching for the feds, does this mean Poindexter has to stay in a holding pattern until the feds have wrung every last bit of info out of Vick? Of course, if any of the Vick-imparted info results in a federal case, could the feds “encourage” Poindexter to lay low and not push his case against Vick [for fear of jeopardizing Vick’s cooperation]? If so, this could go on for years.

I’ve been thinking about this & I don’t think Vic turned him in. DMX that dirt bag (seen that cover) was turned in a week ago. Imo Vic at that time still thought his $ would buy him out. I think the ones who first took the plea turned him in to help them with the judge, I bet there will be more.
