If the courts do this right it will set a wonderful example to the youngesters who were thinking about "being just like him". I also think Vick's mansion would make a great shelter and a monument to those dogs he tortured. These were all great ideas- I hope the judge uses ALL of them, but would be happy if he used at least some of them.

These groups are pit bull breeders

Gee, what do ya think they want with the dogs?

These aren't humane groups- they are BREEDERS

What do you think National American Pit Bull Terrier Association does and supports?

And look up how UKC got its start- registering fighting dogs.

This is how the breeding and fighting go on. All those so-called advocacy groups that protect the breeding

They want big buckos to promote the breeding. And the breedding keeps the fighting going.

As one pit bull breeder said after his dogs were discovered in the fighting racket, "oh, I can't control what happens to them after I sell them"

(And as far as badrap goes, the breeders say badrap represents what they want. What gives?)

These are great ideas, and I hope the judge takes them very seriously. I'm a pit bull lover too, they are an excellent breed, very sweet babies. No dog "can't be rehabilitated". Anyone heard of "The Dog Whisperer"? He rehabilitates dogs and trains people. And he especially loves strong, "gladiator" breeds like bullies and rots. His name is Cesar Millan. You can watch his program on the National Geographic channel. There is no need for any dog to be put down due to aggressive behavioral problems. THE PROBLEM IS NEVER THE DOGS', AND ALWAYS THE PEOPLE'S PROBLEM. I'm sure that if the dog advocacy groups would contact him that he would help. I emailed him when all this first started. He is unfortunately very busy, and I never received a reply. But a large group like that might get his attention. Lastly, I agree, Vick should never be allowed to play on a football field ever again.

Bravo this should happen - now the NFL needs to make sure this criminal never steps on a football field ever again.

I've yet to hear any person or group propose what I *really* want to see accomplished. However, this collateral motion gets close, provided someone possesses the vision to combine the following three elements:

1. "(T)he groups want Hudson to seize Vick’s property and force him to pay $500,000 to transform it into a no-kill shelter for abused and neglected dogs."

2. "The advocacy groups also asked that Vick be fined $250,000 – the maximum allowed for his charge – to support a public education campaign against dog fighting."

3. "The dog advocacy groups said that every pit bull kept as a pet becomes a victim of the stereotype that the media puts on these dogs."

The "no-kill shelter" idea should be re-imagined as an AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER* evaluation, rehabilitation, and education center. The east coast Bad Rap (www.badrap.org), if you will, but on a much, much larger scale.

[I'm not sure if "no-kill" could remain a feasible practice for such an organization, one which could very quickly - probably within hours - be inundated with pit bull type dogs needing evaluation, training, and rehoming.]

Excellent, excellent, excellent. These groups should be proud of their efforts.

Judge Hudson is a very fair judge whose judgments are not known to result in later appeals. He's also known to be harsh when called for.

With the collateral motion filed by these groups he should come away with the idea that multiple organizations have agreed to the same suggested rulings. No human rights orgs have come forward to "save" Vick [to my knowledge]. This should tell Judge Hudson how ethical people feel about the crimes.

"Attorneys helping the dog advocacy groups said they hope this motion helps save the dogs more than anything else. The push for action from the groups came after Vick’s apology. They felt that he wasn’t sincere and contrite in his public statement."

have they not been following the case? the ASPCA and others are evaluating the dogs and the judge already said Vick had to pay for all costs related to the dogs' care. that would include rehab costs.

Vicks property turned into a no kill shelter and he funds it. I LOVE THAT demand. What a fantastic idea. Let us pray that the Judge sees clearly that ALL the demands are justified and then carry them out.

I think this is great, 11 groups not just standing up but taking action. No matter what happens they can be proud of themselves they did something. GREAT
