barking dog collars

On Wednesday I met up with some friends who knew very little about barking dog collars, I was quite surprised by this as its a widely discussed topic on the net. I challenged them to go home, do a search and then tell me they don't know anything!

very seldom does something so awful happen. in your grief you think you must blame somebody. You are jeopardizing some poor persons job and livelihood over a tragedy that most likely was not even their fault. You cannot slander petsmart or the associate with no hard evidence. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Wow, just think of the thousands of pets that are groomed at petsmart's EVERYDAY without incident. It's all about each individual groomer. Not about the company. Some groomers suck. Many are great (petsmart employees or not). very sad story. sorry for your loss.

I'am not surprised at ALL !! Know one should never take their pets to petsmart, I witness a groomer hitting the dog with a comb while she was grooming him because he wouldnt look a certain way. I let the manager know and everyone else in the store what was going on. Always stay with your pet never leave it along. You can only imagine what they do when they think know one is looking. Do you ever wonder why your dog starts shaking when you go to those places, Think about it!

I would also like people to know that I also took my dog to petsmart and he suffered. The groomer cut him down to low so he had scores on the inside of both ears, his pirvate parts had scores and scabs going up and down. I contacted petsmart and spoke to the manager and he nevser told any one about my phone, so then I started emailing customer service and they did respond. However, the plan was for them to make a gift basket for my dog and the groomer was suppose to say sorry. When I went to get the basket and the apology the basket had about $10.00 worht of stuff in it I paid about $40.00 plus a tip to the groomer and the groomer was not there. So I contacted petsmart again and informed them about the situation and customer service stated that, that was not right and that she was have the district manager of new jersey call me. The district manager called me and got really nasty stating the the basket was good and the groomer stayed a hour over her shift to say sorry. I then informed him that customer service informed me that she was going to be there until closing. Well the district manager blamed customer service and customer service blamed them. Well now I
m going to seek legal advice because my dog is like my child and I'm not going to let the get away with what they did. Petsmart was the one who broke the verbal agreement and not me. Eventhough the district manager states that there was never a agreement and I told him that once customer service told me the plan and I agreed and they broked the deal there was a verbal agreement. Why do these big companies think that the little people have no say. I wan't looking for any money, But now I think that my dog desevers money for pain and suffering. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE SCORES AND SCABS OVER YOUR PRIVATE PARTS AND ALL I ASKED FOR WAS FOR THE GROOMER TO SAY SORRY.

I completley agree with norman. I have been bathing and drying dogs for 5 yrs and if the nails are to long you cut them before they are put in a kennel. If you don't it is neglect pure and simple!!!!. This is 100% ps fault as far as the little scotty goes and i hope the pup is doing well now.

Petsmart is awful !! I worked in the grooming department for only 3 days and could not take how awful they treat the dogs and cats. It is very cold, concrete floors, cinder block walls, stainless steel cages that are cold. They do not dry the pets completely before they put them into the kennels. Your dog is most likely to sit in the cage very wet with a fan blowing on them making them even colder. There is no interaction. I saw a groomer get so frustrated with a little Chihuahua while trying to clip his nails, she intentionally dropped him from about 2 feet onto the table. The employees with act nice when you drop off your pet. That is just an act for the pet owner (they suck up for tips) The pressure used to rinse and wash the dogs is never adjusted for the smaller dogs. I saw yet another employee holding a little Yorkie very tight and spraying the water very hard directly in his face. The dog was in a panic because he could not breath. Also the products used are very watered down you cannot get a good lather going to even wash the dog thoroughly. Very seldom does a dog get washed and rinsed twice. They never smell good. The employees that have written about this in defense of Petsmart are uneducated. This dog was at Petsmart for a nail clipping. This is a very quick service. I quit petsmart after 3 days because it went against my ethics. I have worked at extremely high end grooming salons. There is no comparison. Something else I noticed is that the dogs at petsmart never smile. I consider it fraud how they advertise good product, compassion and care for your pets.
And to the stupid employee who previously wrote if the dogs nails are too long they can get caught in the crate...DUH.. as a groomer you are suppose to take note of it and clip the nails before you crate them. I have so much more I can say, bottom line ,"DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO PETSMART!"

My Yorkie 2 years old, took him for grooming at Petsmart, in Colorado, they called us 30 minutes later and found out another dog got out of the kennel and killed mine right there. On the police report we also found out that the owner was the grooming manager at the saloon that day.
This was my 9 year old boy's dog. He is ADHD lovely box and the dog was his only BUDDY.
Petsmart will hear from our attoruney in a couple days

I am currently a petsmart salon employee and take great offense to most of the comments on this page. This dog did not die from being muzzled...that is impossible...it had to have had an underlying condition and maybe got stressed. And to the scottie owner...I have seen that happen before, and your dog doesn't have to be "yanked out" if a dog's nails are too long they can easily get caught in the crate. You all know nothing about our salons, don't pass judgement when you don't know anything about us!!!!!!

September 8 we took our very friendly Scottish terrier to PetSmart to get groomed and his nails clipped...we have been taking him there for 2 years with the best results..Until September 8..That day, the gal who checked us in was new, and alone for one thing, and seemed half out of it for another, telling us he was matted (he was not as I always brush him out before we bring him)..anyhow, an hour after we left him, she called telling us she "accidentally" got his nail caught in the cage when taking him out, and ripped it completely off, and he was at Banfield getting treated..We rushed over..they told us he was back in the salon ( ODD, we thought, why put him back in a cage?)...when we went back to the salon, the gal was nowhere to be seen, but this guy was there...he never said a word to us, just took Scotty out of the cage, and carried him to the vet, saying "he has been such a trooper" nothing telling us who he was, not an apology..nothing..Scotty was severely traumatized...the vet wrapped him, and gave us 2 weeks of pain meds and antibiotics, and asked that we bring him back the next day to be checked..

The next day, he was in so much pain, he could not walk, eat, drink, pee or poop..I was extremely upset about this and called the store manager, coming to find out he was that guy who carried Scotty to the clinic the day before..I told him that the gal had to of yanked on him pretty hard to rip the nail out like that, and he says "Ma'am, she didn't yank him...This happens all of the time"..Okay then...nice..I reamed him a new one..First, how would he know, as I can guarantee he wasn't there watching her take him out of the cage, for one, and it doesn't "happen all of the time" for another..if it did, they would not be groomers at all...And yes we regularly trim Scotty's nails, AND he gets 2 walks in a day, or did up until that point..Still, no apology, NOTHING other than that excuse, and that they are paying the vet bill, well, DUH, they should..We took him back to get it checked and my dog shook so hard and was so scared I feared he would have a heart attack..

No more...We will no longer take him there..In fact I am gonna give his grooming a try myself, at least until his foot heals, and then we will have the groomer come in the van to the house..it may cost a bit more, but I won't put him through that trauma again..Had we gotten an apology from the salon manager, OR the gal who did this to him, I may be a bit more sympathetic, but having gotten neither, they have lost our business..

September 8 we took our very friendly Scottish terrier to PetSmart to get groomed and his nails clipped…we have been taking him there for 2 years with the best results..Until September 8..That day, the gal who checked us in was new, and alone for one thing, and seemed half out of it for another, telling us he was matted (he was not as I always brush him out before we bring him)..anyhow, an hour after we left him, she called telling us she “accidentally” got his nail caught in the cage when taking him out, and ripped it completely off, and he was at Banfield getting treated..We rushed over..they told us he was back in the salon ( ODD, we thought, why put him back in a cage?)…when we went back to the salon, the gal was nowhere to be seen, but this guy was there…he never said a word to us, just took Scotty out of the cage, and carried him to the vet, saying “he has been such a trooper” nothing telling us who he was, not an apology..nothing..Scotty was severely traumatized…the vet wrapped him, and gave us 2 weeks of pain meds and antibiotics, and asked that we bring him back the next day to be checked..

Joy, your brother should have looked into muzzles before he even bought one. First of all not all dogs can be muzzled. Even if it fits properly. Some dog breeds have respitory problems (breathing issue). Not because of poor health it is just in the gene of that type of dog. Second a muzzle should be on no longer than 15 minute. Third a muzzle should never be used for barking!

To all you other muzzle user know what you are doing and what the genetics of the breed are before you use them. I have pomeranians and very honory poms! They are one of the breeds that cannot be muzzled. My oldest which is 12 almost 13 does not like me to trim his nails or sanitary area...A great alternative- use a "E-COLLAR" For those who do not know what these are, they are the plastic "radar collars" dogs usually wear after surgery to avoid chewing at the stitches. They can be found at almost all your locoal petstores PetSmart included.

SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR DOG. MY BROTHER JUST CALLED AND TOLD ME HE PUT A MUZZLE ON HIS DOG AND IT WAS ON THERE A COUPLE OF HOURS OUTSIDE. YOU SEE, HIS NEIGHBOR HAS COMPLAINED, SENT CERTIFIED LETTERS TO SUE, AND ON AND ON. HE THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS THE SOLUTION, HE IS SO SAD AND BLAMES HIMSELF. YOU SEE THE FENCE FELL DOWN IN THE LAST TROPICAL STORM. I HAD A FEELING THE NEIGHBOR POISONED THE DOG. SHE IS A MISERABLE WOMAN. YOU SEE, HIS DOG BARKED ALL THE TIME. HE BURIED IT ALREADY IN THE BACK YARD, BUT HE IS SAD.
