Get real, people. Any small business can be hassled out of existence by the police, and all small business owners have to make payments to the police to avoid this. As long as they make their payments (and “campaign contributions” to the DA), the police look the other way.

What is wrong with this country? We can have the right of saluting of the American Flag in schools, and the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, taken away from us, but they can’t stop this man from selling these videos in his store and it’s a crime to sell them? Oh, please!!! People are having their dogs, taken away or they have to give them away or put them down, because of this Breed Specific Legislation that is sweeping the country, targeting Pit Bulls and other breeds of dogs, just based on their breed, not their actions, but we can’t stop this gas station owner from the selling and promoting of the illegal sport of dog fighting. What is really the reason that they are not doing there job, is my question.
This man should be charged with the crime of promoting dog fighting!!! We need to make a great effort to make the police, and our criminal justice system, really do their job and stop this horrible, crime.

Unlike the violence on TV in which it’s all acting and nobody actually gets hurt, the animals in those videos do get mauled or killed.

Let me make myself very clear:

~ I do not support dog fighting, Michael Vick, or anyone connected with dogfighting or any form of animal abuse.

~ I have never ever supported any argument that advocates that growing up in a culture that accepts dog fighting as sport makes it excusable or warrants a lesser sentence.

~ The history is VERY, VERY important, and Iâ€™m glad someone introduced historical info into the thread. [It was not me.] Without knowledge of HOW dog fighting began and progressed thereâ€™s little chance of developing an effective and enduring solution to the problem.

Just because I ask questions or write about demographics/sociological elements that are entwined with dog fighting, does NOT mean I advocate them.

I have always been a frequent customer of Amazon. I let them know that they lost a customer unless they stop promoting violence against animals with these books and videos. I’m passing this on to everyone I know. A little here and there might make a difference.

HEY ALL! PEACE!
It doesn’t matter what the history of dog-fighting is. It is today and it is
going on all around us. Go to Pet Abuse.com and you can see the “flags” where they are aware that this underworld sport is going on.
I know that the Sheriff of Gwinnett County, GA. has offered $10,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of dog-fighting cartel. Sheriff Conway is a good guy and obviously loves animals.
Instead of worrying about the ‘history’ of dog fighting, how can we band together to get more public awarness and more aprehended for being involved in this ghastly sport?
Since Vick, and now the guy in AZ. there is a lot more public awareness.
If you know of anything I can do to help these dogs, let me know.

Today it has evolved into a heinous sport that goes underground and slinks around in back rooms, barracated walls, sound-proof rooms, secret adjendas, high betting, ‘bait’ animals that don’t deserve the torment of their death, steroids, chains, treadmills, and everything else that goes on with the underworld with drugs and weapons.
Crime breeds all of the most horrendous violaitions immaginable. Any form of dog fighting is a fuel to the underground and crime.
ANY crime should be prosecuted.
Don’t permit these videos on the shelves. It is letting the public think that dog-fighting is an ‘o.k.” sport.

this is what i thought also. i knew a bit about the history of dog fighting and what vick and co. did to his dogs was a shock to me.

Lynn–there also used to be a lot of polygamy, but it too is not accepted in today’s society, altho some religions still practice it. But they aren’t killing anything in the process.
I lived in Spain and the bull-fighting is an age-old traditon. I hate it….and thank God we don’t have bull fighting here in the United States. It too is a barbaric sport which involves torment and a “slow-kill” of an inocent animal. Dog fighting is no different, no matter what the history is.
We don’t live in the yester-years. We live in TODAY where laws have been put on the books to protect the innocent. The dogs involved in fighting are among the “innocent”.
So beccause of your understanding of the age-old tradition of dog fighting, should Michalel Vick get a lighter sentence—your feed on this one????
