Sure, Dingo "claims" he'll never do it again, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts he'd take the bait again if it was offered.

At least this is ONE danger my cats won't have to face since I have never baked a loaf of homemade bread (other than the sweet breads)! Now I have a good excuse for not doing it :>)

You also have to be very careful of fallen fruit. Tales of elephants, squirrels and even horses getting bombed on fermenting fallen fruit are all over the place. My pal from TX has a couple of Pugs who just adore apricots, fermenting ones. She had to fence the tree so the dogs could not get to the alcoholic fruit.

When I was a kid we had a German Shepherd who became inebriated from eating from a pile of pulled weeds which were apparently fermenting in the sun. My father learned fast that he could not leave a martini or beer on a cocktail table around her - she'd lap it up instantly. Since most dogs and cats avoid even the smell of alcohol, I've often wondered what attracted her to it. Could it have been genetic - both sire and dam were from Germany. Might account for the beer. But gin and dry vermouth!Any ideas?

Glad Dingo is OK and hope he's in AA now!
