i've never doubted a second that animals experience grief when dumped at a shelter. i've no doubt they know who their people are. there are plenty of stories of dogs and cats travelling many many miles to be back at their homes or with their people. my heart breaks to pieces when i go to shelters and see the depressed ,scared cats and dogs and the ones who lunge their paws out of their cages for human contact. i force myself to stay and talk to each cat( i do like dogs but i'm a cat person for sure). i think animals are more honest in their devotions then people. it's that unquestioning love that makes them so special and it's the neglecting and disposal of that love by 'owners' that makes humans so vile.

I think Radar would have been happiest as the vet's dog. He knew where he wanted to be. I pray the first home (where he was returned) is kind to him and that they are responsible pet guardians. Hopefully, the doctor will check on him periodically.

I got pretty confused from having the two stories mushed together. It would help to at least put something at the top that there are two parts to the whole "tail."

Here's the <a href="http://www.joplinglobe.com/local/local_story_323222645.html" rel="nofollow">second newspaper article</a>, where Radar becomes Happy and goes back to his first home.

Sounds like he knew he was a stolen dog, and didn't like where he was at!

Gosh. This shows how intelligent Radar truly is and was so hoping that his "real" owner would come for him. Tells you what really goes through the minds of dogs at the shelters for any given reason and how they crave and pine for someome to please to God rescue them and take them HOME.

Too funny...this story made me smile.
Its nice to know that there are still happy endings out there, in spite of so many bad ones these days.

Wish I lived closer to this veterinarian! He would have a new client! ;)

Yes, truly a Happy outcome. Happy knew perfectly well where he belonged. :)

Now how did that other "owner" end up with him?
