Dog Saves Injured Woman

TazHe may be small, but that doesn’t mean that Taz can’t be a hero.

Taz, a three-year-old Jack Russell terrier mix who was just a stray three months ago, saved the life of Mary Hartman, a 91-year-old woman.

Hartman slipped on some ice and fell onto the cold cement as she was going to a neighbor’s house. She tried to call for help, and Taz came to her rescue.

Taz would run to the window and go back to his owner, Judy Sawatzki, and would then whine and bark and go back to the window again.

Finally when Sawatzki let Taz outside, he ran down the driveway and barked for her to follow him. Taz led her straight to Hartman who was still on the driveway.

Hartman was trapped for about an hour in the snow until Taz came along. She said that she hopes Taz is always around to watch out for her and the others in the neighborhood.

Sawatzki said, “He’s one heck of a dog, that’s all I have to say.”
