Why was it the cops were on the property to start with?

I’m of the mind that cops are now trigger happy against anything that may have had a reputation in the past for attacking humans. I seriously doubt the animal was in attack stance…….but the idiots probably took one look and their brains registered “PIT BULL” and they killed him.

This is disgusting.

in boulder we had a pit bull who was “under voice control” supposedly. The officer saw the dog do what he felt in his experience was “lunge” at a 3 year old. the officer shot and killed the dog.

When you are putting your life on the line, and when you are going into homes in order to make arrests, you have no idea if a particular animal is the family pet or is a drug dog (one there for the mear feet of intimidating cops, other gang members, buyers and sellers). you only have your instinct to go on.

I know it sucks, but what is the officer’s options? *if* this had been a guard dog, and it lunged at them, and the suspect got away, would we be singing the same tune today?

i would not want to be the cops in this situation, cause i’d not want to have to make that choice. Cops see crappy shit all the time, especially when they are doing suspect arrests. The guy has a weapon, how do you know the dog is not another weapon.
