Bless all your hearts Brandy at From the Heart Rescue. if I (and my Aussie, Rufus of course) ever move to Austin to live again (my biggest wish) I will contact you with the intentions of fostering for your organization. My very best long time friend who lives in Round Rock, has fostered for the Austin German Shepherd rescue for several years now. The pictures of Queena did not come through, but I am so glad you took the time to leave a message for us on Itchmo about dear Queena.

This is Brandy at From the Heart Rescue, we are the ones taking care of Queena. She is recovering from her burns and will make a 100% recovery, although will always carry the scars of her ordeal. We thank you for your kind words and thoughts for this girl.

Someone asked why the family was not taking care of the dog -- they lost evrything in the fire. They have no home and no finances to pay the nearly $1000 in vet and medical supply charges to care for Queena. We stepped forward as emergency responders for the Red Cross to take care of the dog. Once recovered, she will be returned to the family once they have been resettled.

Queena is terribly depressed and feels the loss of her owner. We are supplying her with lots of love in her foster home and over time, her heart will heal. The burns are healing, but will require daily bandage changes for up to six weeks. That, along with the medication, is expensive and time consuming, but Queena well is worth it! She is a sweetheart who gives pit bulls a GOOD name....loyal and loving. She currently is curled up with a 2-1/2 lb chihuahua at my feet.

I have attached a few more images of Queena (I hope they come through) ...

If you have any questions about Queena and her progress, please feel free to holler.

Very sad story - but a good, positive story of how dogs (in particular a pit bull mix) will love and care for us regardless of how they are impacted.

My prayers are with Queena and the family who lost Saldivar.

Kind Regards,

Robert Davis

Queena is greiving and will mourn the loss of her beloved Saldivar. She may have even heard his cries of help. How traumatic it must of been for her. She will be one devoted dog once she gets over the loss of her best friend and another person is able to earn her trust and devotional love. Poor, poor Queena. Her eyes are so sad.

Thank God Queena already has an angel to take care of her. I am so saddened by the fires and am hearing that they maybe were set. How horrible could anybody be to do this. Her poor whiskers are gone and she looks so sad. You can see the pain. There are probably so many stories like this.
