my persian tortie cat used to do the exact same thing and if it was wet she’d roll around like a nut.

Oh for Goodness sake, give the poor pup some water and bath toys so he doesn’t have to play at dry land swimming!

Our part labs do this only in the creek behind our house.
They are a huge mess after they get done, but have so much fun we can’t bear to stop them.
