Also I am not a stupid owner and Harley as well as my other dog have tons of chew toys. I am not setting myself up for rough times with Harley and if you all had problems with your dogs chewing slippers or shoes then you didn't spend enough time watching and training them to not chew on them. I'm not exactly sure what the hell counter surfing is but I'm pretty sure a dog who isn't even as high as my ankles yet isn't going to ever get up on top of a counter or a table for that matter. My dogs are always well trained and well behaved and have never ever bitten anyone. I do know what I'm doing and I believe you're the one who needs to own fish not me.

First off that's my puppy Harley who is 7 1/2 weeks old. Second this site doesn't have permission to post my video on here and it would have been nice had I been asked. That being said. The puppy is not going to grow into a 60 pound dog it's going to remain under 10 pounds. It's a Shih Tzu. I am not setting myself up to have the puppy grow up to be some viscious animal that has to be *dumped* or put to sleep. The feet happen to be my husband's feet who enjoys playing with the puppy. We have a second dog who is now 3 years old and did the exact same thing when he was a puppy however training and patience taught him and will teach Harley that shoes and feet are not chew toys. You have to let the puppies be puppies and experiment just like you do small babies and children.

It's the cutest puppy ever (aren't they all), but I have to agree with what you've all said. Cute behavior today, irritating later. Unfortunately, when the behavior gets really annoying or somebody gets hurt, that's when dogs get dumped. And the sad thing is, it's not the dog's fault.

I agree. I thought the same thing about the video of the dog who was trying to get the pasta off the table and was being encouraged to do so. What a great way to teach bad manners. And then they wonder why the dog counter surfs.

And it isn't going to be so funny (it actually isn't funny at all) when the puupy is 60lbs and trying to rip her slippers off. And then when she is tired of it or it starts hurting or the dog does this to company or a child, she is going to scold the dog who will be so confused because he was encouraged to engage in this behavior. Some people just don't get it. They should own fish.

I once had a trip to the emergency vet from my dog swallowing a tiny piece of yarn. It's pretty stupid to let a puppy chew slippers. Get a safe toy and sit on the floor and play with the puppy.

They are setting themselves up for some rough times trying to rehab the dog from chewing shoes or anything else that smells like feet. Substituting an appropriate toy would be a whole lot smarter than letting the pup chew the slippers. While it makes for a cute video, it is pretty stupid on the owner's part to do this to the dog.
