RE: "Also in last 2 wks news: FDA set to approve cloned meats. Yummie!"

I can't imagine why anyone would object to that. According to theory, they should be able to pick the best and healthiest animals and duplicate them exactly.

I just wish they would do it with pets. That way when the FDA lets pet food companies murder our pets, we can sue the pet food companies for an exact replacement.

Why I have absolutely NO FAITH in the FDA/USDA to protect the food supply:

It was against the law to sell the mela-chickens & mela-porkers to the public, after it was known that the pigs & chickens ate contaminated feed! (And, I don't buy the "melamine-only" story.)

A USDA law was knowingly broken. Any animal for human consumption that was known to have eaten "adulterated feed" was to be destroyed and NOT sold for food. The USDA was even going to compensate the ranchers for euthanizing & disposing of the poultry...

But, NO..... WE ATE THE CHICKEN & PORK!

A look back in time... In their own words...

April 30, 2007: Joint Release from FDA/USDA on the Poultry & Swine That Ate the Adulterated Feed:

"Because the poultry being held have been fed adulterated products, USDA cannot knowingly approve products derived from these poultry for human consumption. USDA is offering to compensate producers who euthanize this poultry. USDA is also offering the expertise and assistance of Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) personnel in carrying out depopulation activities, to ensure adherence to Federal and State laws.

FDA and USDA anticipate that as the investigation continues additional farms will likely be identified that received contaminated feed. As indicated in previous updates, FDA and USDA have also traced contaminated feed to swine farms in several states. The same procedures are being followed in relation to both swine and poultry; animals are being quarantined by state order or voluntarily held by the owners and USDA is offering compensation for depopulation and disposal of both swine and poultry that have been fed contaminated products."

http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2007/NEW01621.html
................................

Gotta love THE DILUTION FACTOR!

I have not eaten store bought pork, chicken, or turkey since then. Things were sooooo quiet from the beef industry that I stopped eating commercially-raised beef as well. I have a 1/2 cow coming to fill my freezer!

Mooooooooo!

Moving the FDA's deck chairs around won't help.

The FDA needs to lock the doors of companies that produce poison food, put the CEO's in jail, and levy huge fines.

We haven't eaten pork since the FDA decided to feed contaminated pet food to hogs, and we no longer buy beef and chicken from the grocery store.

I cook "from scratch" (much healthier and cheaper), and make my own pet food.

The FDA's incompetence killed thousands of pets, and they continue to allow tainted foodstuffs to be imported.

Moving Dr. Sundlof from pet food to human food will certainly make our pets safer, but we're in heap big trouble.

Dear FDA and CVM:
After the MOU signed with AAFCO by the CVM, the American public
does not feel safer and the situation is no better. Do your job and
regulate pet food for the health and welfare and safety of companion
animals.

It does not make me feel better. I am cooking for my dog. I use 1/2 Eagle Pack Hollistic food and I cook. Amish meat with no hormones or antibotics and Laua's ground beef (Vegatarian fed Beef) wild caught salmon too. I am scared to death of commercial dog and cat food. I am really thinking of pulling my dog completly off the dog food altogether. This has gone to far and I love my dog. she is part of the family. They need to get someone on this and really levy some fines and keep checking this food. I just don't think it will happen because they just feel like our pets are not that important .
