how wonderful, we have another czar. everybody knows that when you have a thorny problem, a czar is just what you need to make everything right again."

Yes indeed! Don't you realize that's why America no longer has any illegal drug abuse!?

This is exactly like the 9/11 health czar who ended up shutting down ongoing lawsuits, and getting the courts to REFUSE TO ACCEPT ANYMORE lawsuits having to do with the contaminated air after 9/11, which sickened and killed police officers, firefighters, emergency rescue workers and local residents.

You have the blueprint this one will use; I have the experience on how to take him out. The Class Action lawsuit must IMMEDIATELY be amended to INCLUDE HIM AND HIS OFFICE. The reason? Open Industry Secret means either (1) lack of due diligence on the part of the FDA (criminal negligence) or (2) collusion to prevent disclosure of the open secret (criminal racketeering). There is no (3)...

Both (1) and (2) are legally determined after disclosure; such disclosure is now officially the mandate of this CZAR, so he is the one to include.

While dealing with the melamine-poisoned crap we've been importing from China by the ton, we should be asking ourselves - how is it possible that highly processed grain products, shipped thousands of miles through many middlemen winds up "cheaper" than buying grains harvested simply by the organic farmer down the road?

Just because the cost is hidden, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

And just why do we need to buy grain-derived, plastic-adulterated crap from China when we grow wheat, corn, soy, and meats here in America?

Check out this article in the New York Times by Michael Pollan about the link between obesity in the U.S. and our screwed up farm subsidies.

"Doing so starts with the recognition that the “farm bill” is a misnomer; in truth, it is a food bill and so needs to be rewritten with the interests of eaters placed first. Yes, there are eaters who think it in their interest that food just be as cheap as possible, no matter how poor the quality. But there are many more who recognize the real cost of artificially cheap food — to their health, to the land, to the animals, to the public purse. At a minimum, these eaters want a bill that aligns agricultural policy with our public-health and environmental values, one with incentives to produce food cleanly, sustainably and humanely. Eaters want a bill that makes the most healthful calories in the supermarket competitive with the least healthful ones. Eaters want a bill that feeds schoolchildren fresh food from local farms rather than processed surplus commodities from far away. Enlightened eaters also recognize their dependence on farmers, which is why they would support a bill that guarantees the people who raise our food not subsidies but fair prices. Why? Because they prefer to live in a country that can still produce its own food and doesn’t hurt the world’s farmers by dumping its surplus crops on their markets."

From USA Today

FDA: Feed no human threat

"But David Acheson, FDA assistant commissioner for food protection, said there is little threat to human health because the proportion of melamine in the original pet food was less than 6%"

http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/2007-05-01-food-safety-usat_N.htm

IMHO, New bureaucrat - same old song and dance.

GW was on Live this morning from the White House. I was certain this Mr. President would finally be addressing the toxic food issue. He didn’t speak a word about it. He was there to tell us all that he will now open up FREE TRADE to Columbia, Peru & Panama. He assured us all that this is a great opportunity for these Countries. Great for the farmers, great for the people, great for employment.

Oh, yes this is a great opportunity for the Columbian Drug Lords and Panama Red sales should be increasing drastically.

How much more damage is he going to cause before his term is finally over. Is Cuba next on his list?

I noticed GW and Laura made a video appearance on American Idol tonight. I was waiting for him to comment on the mess in his country, but then I realized there’s more than one mess so he probably couldn’t pick one.

I saw that & was stupidly waiting for him to say something too. Of course there is more than one mess, it was that a$$ of a president on the video. ;)

We all need to be very wary of ll our suppliments and food additives that go into our food and our pet food.

From the ChemNutra site...
http://www.chemnutra.com/index.htm

ChemNutra imports quality ingredients from China to the U.S. for the feed, food and pharma industries. We are a professionally managed, American owned company experienced in negotiating, securing and delivering ultra-competitive pricing on high-quality chemicals and ingredients from quality-assured manufacturers in China. We bridge the business and cultural gaps…including all regulatory, compliance, import and transportation requirements.

We specialize in Taurine, L-Cysteine, Glycine, Vital Wheat Gluten, and Glucuronolactone, and we also handle many other ingredients.

ChemNutra imports over 4,000 tons per year, and our customers include several Fortune 500 companies.

They also, interestingly enough, started their own blog...

We also should be very wary of all suppliments and additives in our food and in our pets food as well.

From the ChemNutra web site... http://www.chemnutra.com/

ChemNutra imports high-quality nutritional and pharmaceutical chemicals from China to the US. We purchase our inventory from quality-assured manufacturers in China; most of whom we have strong relationships over the past twelve years. Our US customers are manufacturers of food, pet food, and nutritional ingredients, who want high quality, the best service, and the most competitive prices.

The ingredients we import include amino acids, preservatives, nutritional minerals, proteins, flavor enhancers, and sweeteners.

The principals of ChemNutra have exported large quantities of feed and food ingredients from China to manufacturers in the US and elsewhere worldwide. Annually, our volume exceeds 4,000 tons of Amino Acids and other quality ingredients.

They also started their own blog... http://www.sdsternpr.com/chemnutra/
