What breed of dog best represents your personality?
The Internet is full of quizzes (such as the Pet IQ Test) to answer all kinds of questions like this, but it takes a British movie to create the best dog breed quiz that I’ve come across. Surprising? Maybe not - the comedy “Gone to the Dogs” is about a man, Jack, who dies and is reincarnated as a dog, only to have his widowed wife unsuspectingly adopt him. Jack gains a new perspective on relationships now that he sees his wife through a dog’s eyes. No wonder the folks behind this film were able to develop such a nifty quiz that tries to equate dog breed temperaments with individual personalities.
Instantly I was drawn to the user interface where the quiz is presented as if on a cold-war era telex machine, complete with sound effects. It was entertaining to take the quiz just to play with the machine! The quiz itself (which goes by the humorous acronym “CATS”) will ask you just 10 questions before spitting out its calculated answer.
A Maremma Sheepdog (shown in the picture as it appears on the quiz machine) was my result; my wife verified that the similarities between the breed description and my own temperament are quite striking. Testing out different responses to its questions I noticed that most of the results are lesser-known dog breeds. Almost every result caused me to go research the breed, piquing my curiosity to learn more. The quiz seems quite accurate - friends and family who took the test got a result that matched them pretty well.
To take the quiz, visit the Gone to the Dogs website and click “game” on the left sidebar. Please comment and share your results; let us know if the breed truly exemplifies your own personality!
