Haven For Injured and Neglected Horses
Sunkissed Farm in Georgia is a sanctuary for abused, neglected, and injured horses and pets. The 60-acre farm currently is home to 32 horses and a group of house pets.
Lori Young started the farm after she was an inspector with the ASPCA. She saw the abuse and the poor treatment that animals received and decided to do something about it. She also wanted to start a farm where horses could retire and live out the rest of their lives. She takes horses in from all over the United States and has even taken in a horse from Western Canada. Four Olympic horses have also called Sunkissed Farm home. Young runs the farm with help from her husband and she says “you’ve never owned a horse if you haven’t rescued one.â€

Happily, there is a horse rescue facility in Aiken South Carolina also.

Unfortunately, there is a need for such places due to the racing industry. Read about nurse mare foals here: http://www.colorofhorses.com/c.....71717.html

I don’t know why this poor horse’s empty eye socket gacks me so, but it does. He must have been a very scared horse right after losing the eye; I hope he feels safe and comfortable now.
Imagine the amount of daily work *that* kind of rescue facility copes with. Admirable. Bless ‘em.
