Tembec contends it is not a manufacturer because it produces only “a binder that is used in the production of feed,” company spokesman John Valley said.

-------------------------
What kind of double-speak is this? How in the world do these people think they have the remotest chance of getting away with this---it sounds so much like the rationale everyone is screaming about coming from the Chinese manufacturers. We have to wake up and realize these people are everywhere and could be making anything. Tembec needs to be punished and anyone involved in this decision needs to be out of a job and facing trial!

We get angry over China doing this and then an American firm wants to export something like this. Other countries do not deserve bad products any more then our country does.

what i find amazing is the assertion that it's ok to produce potentially poisonous substances for export. i know this happens all the time with banned pesticides too, but it just never ceases to amaze me. a total disregard for the welfare of others seems to be a tenet of business these days. i hope the state can find a way to throw the book at them.

Can someone answer this? Why is cynauric acid okayed by the FDA for cattle feed? Why?

Off the FDA page for cattle/animal feed...Sec. 573.220 Feed-grade biuret.
http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfCFR/CFRSearch.cfm?CFRPart=573&showFR=1&subpartNode=21:6.0.1.1.20.2

------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                                      Percent
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Biuret................................... 55 minimum.
Urea..................................... 15 maximum.
Cyanuric acid and triuret................ 30 maximum.
Mineral oil.............................. 0.5 maximum.
Total nitrogen (equivalent to 218.75 pct 35 minimum.
crude protein).
FDA permits a certain amount of cyanuric acid to be present in some non-protein nitrogen (NPN) additives used in animal feed and drinking water.[4] Cyanuric acid has been used as NPN. For example, Archer Daniels Midland manufactures a NPN supplement for cattle, which contains biuret, triuret, cyanuric acid and urea.[5]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanuric_acid

Has anybody seen any overseas news about this? Are they having recalls? Their website lists urea resin and melamine resin as 2 separate products. Is this a "cross-contamination" issue? And why would you buy wood glue as a binder for animal feed?
