From this beautiful Female Bully’s posture you can see she is lovingly submissive and gentle. She exudes it. Anyone who hurts a dog like she was hurt is unfit for society. I hope I live to see the day when humans can receive death penalties for malicious murder of dogs and cats and horses and LONG prison sentences for treating them cruely and wounding them.

i think in part this may also speak to the kinds of people who tend to acquire pit bulls for fighting or for the ‘ butch’ factor of owning a dog that’s widely perceived as automatically vicious. in the urban neighborhood i used to live in, dragging a pit bull down the street on a large chain was akin to having your penis hanging out of you pants- it was like a alpha male thug accessory. these guys enjoyed the fact that people were scared of the dogs and would steer clear of them.i have no problem imagining such a person stabbing a knife into a poor dog let alone a human.

they mention the previous owner in the piece- that is the person who had her when the knife ended up in her head- so i wonder why, how and if they did it and why they had to be compelled to give her up rather then have had her just taken away because of the incident.

it really saddened me to think that the children in my neighborhood only knew dogs as dangerous, distinctly nonfamily entities.i used to walk a drooly sweet as pie boston terrier around who loved children and they used to flee from me screaming ‘ it’s a pit bull!!!!’. all she wanted was to play with them. they were terrified of any dog. i think animals are great at bringing out our common humanity and our better selves and here are generations of children raised to see animals as the enemy or a means to abet cravings to overcome low self esteem through dog fighting and other celebrations of violence as empowering.

i’m so glad someone gave a second chance to this girl-not something most pit bulls at shelters enjoy.

Robert, a breed ban on humans would be Wrong, of course, but the dangerous ones should at least be tattooed, muzzled, licensed, spayed/neutered, and required to go to socialization classes and pass temperament tests.

After reading Itchmo for several months (since the pet food scandal), it really seems that pit bulls receive a disproportionate share of abuse and sick behavior. Glad this story at least, had a happily-ever-after ending.

I’m not sure the if the HUMAN that did this to the dog has ever been caught, but I’m wondering if there is some HUMAN CHARACTERISTIC we should consider so we can ban such DANGEROUS people that have this HUMAN CHARACTERISTIC and have them euthanized or moved out of the state, similar to what Rep Lesch wants to do to Pit Bulls and other breeds in Minnesota. I’m sure there will be innocent HUMANS killed or moved out of state, but we would not have to hear any more stories of Pit Bulls getting stabbed. Afterall, these HUMANS must have some trait that makes them more aggressive than other HUMANS. Or as an alternative, we could also require these DANGEROUS people to move into industrial areas where zoning doesn’t allow them to live - like what Apple Valley, MN is considering.

What do you think? Will this solve the problem of HUMANS attacking Pit Bulls?

Truly a Thanksgiving message for us all. What a beautiful dogger and what amazing people. I only wish it didn’t take such a tragedy for the outpouring and interest from people. So many pits never get that chance . . .
