MY CAT IS VERY ILL, SO ITS HARD TO BE FOCUSED- I AM SO CONCERNED THAT I HAVE BEEN FEEDING MY CATS THE “SO-CALLED SAFE FOODS” AND NOW I AM PANICKED THAT THEY WERE FAR FROM SAFE-I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A SIMPLE LIST OF WHAT TO DO- I AM BOUNCING ALL OVER THE WEB FINDING OUT ONE THING FROM EACH
SITE- NEEDS TO BE MORE SIMPLE. THE RATE OF CAT DEATHS ARE ALMOST FASTER THAN I CAN TYPE. 3 DEATHS SINCE JAN- ALSO SOME OF MY CATS ATE ONLY FRISKIES PRIME FILLETS OF CHICKEN AND TUNA IN GRAVY-THEN THEY JUST STOPPED ABRUPTLY-WHERE IS FRISKIES IN ALL THIS? MY CATS THEN WENT TO SCIENCE DIET BECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE SAFE- WHICH I THOUGHT WAS BETTER-

This has been the best info re Iowa State willing to do necropsy and test cat foods. My cats eat science diet dry and Friskies- have had 5 deaths- 3 kidney failure, 1iver failure, 1 necropsy pending, 2 sicjk cats 1-cancer, lymphoma, AND AS WE SPEAK- CAT IN ICU FOR LIVER FAILURE- SO DESPERATE, THANK GOD FOR THIS SITE!

Here is the link to the Iowa State Vet School site. I do not see anything saying that they are offering to perform autopsy or food testing for FREE. If you have more specific information on this, please post it. Otherwise, any pets remains/food samples sent will be charged back to the individual who sent them, at a steep price, I am sure.

I have a cat that died early January and was autopsied with a subsequent liver anticoagulant panel at Michigan labs. Results came back positive for rodenticide. Since we have no such thing here (never have) and my cat was an exclusively indoor cat for all seven years of his short life, I’ve been arguing with the pathologist since the end of January. My question is could the lab have mistaken the rat poison result for Cyanuric acid - something they would have NOT been measuring? All vets I have consulted do not know of any fatal disease that would have produced the alarmingly quick (12 hr) decline to death in my cat. Further, the pet food co that manufactures the food he ate (to the exclusion of anything else) has admitted that his death was likely due to the food he ate. Alot of rice and duck as he was allergic to chicken protein…

At the price I paid for this food throughout the last seven years, plus the fact that it was PRESCRIBED by a vet as innocent as I am (not available in stores), I just cannot believe what is happening. Knowing the cause of my cat’s death has NOT given me closure.

I live in Canada and am currently dialoging with the offending company, Medi-Cal.

My vet said she sent my dogs kidneys to Iowa which was before the massive recalls began. My Papillon died Feb 23rd of acute kidney failure and she had been on Nutro Ultra. She was only 23 months old and we all needed to know why. Dr Amy Carter from Animal Hospital of Fairview Park is in Fairview Park, Ohio Phone 440-777-2700. We are still awaiting word on these results, and she says they still haven’t been sent. Please let us know!

I have blood work and urine test results. I have his food left but the jerky treats snacks I have none left. Vet couldn’t find what was the problem. Yet high levels of blood and protein were found in his urine. My boy died the same day I even noticed anything was wrong. April 5, 2007. When he went to vet for yearly and shots March 2, 2007. They said everything was fine. I had a healthy 70lb 1 year 5 month old golden retriever. Unfortunately he has been cremated. Can I send the things I do have? Would that be enough??

I recently put my cat to sleep on 3/25/07 due to kidney failure, he has been eating the Special Kitty U.S. that was recalled, I have no food left for sampling, Before my cat was cremated my vet asked if he could keep parts of the spleen and liver so my vet has that in case of any testing that needed to be done. Could this be done and could you use this to find out if it was the food that caused my cats kidney failure?

Hair can be tested for unknown toxins & chemicals. It needs to be cut as close to the skin as possible. About 100 to 150 strands are needed to do the test.

I have 2 boxers that are currently in acute kidney failure, due to some kind of poison.They were in the hospital for 4 days in IV meds. The vets can no longer do anything for them and sent them home with me with $400 worth of meds. We’re talking them back every 3 days for bloodwork so track their levels. We’re talking each day as it comes. If my boy doesn’t get better here soon, we’re going to have to put him to sleep. I can’t bear to see him suffer. These dogs were on the Iams dry mini chunks.(not recalled) Will you test the dog food and give me some sort of peace?If it’s not the dog food, I’ll get off the FDA’s back about recalling it. They said now that it may have massive amounts of vitamin D, which is just as poisonous.

My Beloved pet died last week due to this pet recall. I was feeding her the canned Alpo that wasn’t recalled until Friday, But she had all the clinical signs of kidney failure. What can be done about this? I have contacted my state senate and am trying to get the law changed that Pets are not property but they are a part of the family. Something has to be done.At least then my best friend didn’t die in vein!

I have a pet that passed away March 20 with kidney failure after digesting a food that was on the recall list. I have 1/2 carton of the food, plus three packages that we had been feeding her before she stopped eating. My veterinarian is currently doing a kidney autopsy at a pathology lab but I feel that they might not know what to look for. Unfortunately, since Menu Foods would not answer my calls, we went ahead and buried our dog. Can I have the food tested by your lab, in addition to sending you the kidneys currently under examine? Unfortunately, my pet was 15 years old, but she was in excellent health until she ate this food. Please reply.

I am interested in having a test performed on the remaining food that made my dog ill and caused her death. She died on 3/15/07 and I became aware of the pet food recall on 3/16/07. At that point, it was too late to stop the cremation of her remains. The hospital records show that she died of acute renal failure and the food she ate is on the recall products list. Please let me know, if you are willing to test the food for toxins.

4 weeks ago I opened 2 cans of Nature’s Variety. They both popped loudly, almost exploding in my hand. I had been feeding my dog cans from the same case. He is showing signs of kidney problems–drinking enormous quantities of water and urinating almost constantly. He developed pustules all over his body. These broke, creating dry hard patches on his skin. His hair continues to fall out. He is very lethargic. I would like to send you a can from the same case to test for toxins.
