Dogs are not “regularly on the menu” in China. There are parts of China in which people do eat dog meat, but it is certainly not an everyday thing. And dogs are very popular pets there as well.

How sad that so many parents are forgotten by their children. How wonderful that this dog provided the companionship this man sorely needed. More power to him for celebrating the dog’s life, regardless of the cost or China’s cultural mindsets.

Although I respect the mans dedication and love for his dog, but I find it a little funny that the funeral home refused to organized the funeral for dog. And then they had a change of heart? I think $13,310 would have changed anyones heart.

This is indeed a perplexing question for many Chinese. In a country where dogs are regularly on the menu, it would be like burying a Big Mac here!
