thanks to this post, I just sent a note of appreciation to the shelter we got our Mimi-kitty from.
I don't know if they're no-kill or not, but they enabled us to get a nice healthy kitty and enrich our lives and her life too.

"” People whine about shelters not being no kill.” What a rude statement."

And, Anonymous, that's apparently as far as you got reading the post? That's apparently all you have to say on the matter? How rude of you and how convenient you won't attach your name when you attack someone.

It's true, people do whine about it not realizing the full situation. You want "no-kill"? Well you need better funding for shelters and you need to start with the idiots who let their pets breed or dump them in parks and the wild.

people always whine about how public shelters are not "no kill" but what they generally do not understand is that all "no kill" shelters have a legal limit to the number of pets they can take in, and while they try very hard to find fosters, they have to turn animals down all the time.

those animals end up at teh so-called "kill" shelters, and may or may not be euthanized as needed.

Shelters - ALL shelters, especially public ones which are obligated to take in every animal that comes thier way, need our help and our support.

and the animals there need our love !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

adopt from a shelter, don't get a breed pet !

My Maggie was adopted as an adult shelter dog and she has been an absolute delight to us over the past 6 yrs. My previous dog Suki was a shelter adoption. It is is a great way to save a life and bring a loving companion into your life. I am absolutely pro-shelter and was happy to read of successful adoptions for all the wonderful deserving animals in this article.
