Some say it helps keep fleas away. Years ago I studied pet food ingredients lists and noticed Petigree had "spray dried blood" in their dry dog food. I have always wondered why that was in there..... to make our domesticated carnivorous hunters attracted to it? That could be appealing to our pets, but the human impression of it is, "Oh, gross." One may wonder why pet food manufacturers put anything remotely toxic in their foods, but the little bit of garlic they put in there doesn't keep me up at night worrying about all the pets out there. What bothers me more is the addition of joint support supplements because I think of them more as drugs that should be administered with a specific dosage customized for the animal. We have no idea whether our pets are getting the correct dosage. I am betting there is too little in there for any benefit because to add more would risk an overdose to somebody.
