These act the same as silica desiccants but are safe to place directly into the pet food. I frequently buy the large bags of pet food to save money. Brands like Orijen and Eagle Pack are not exactly cheap. I divide it up into smaller amounts and vacuum seal each batch. The Hill's website does not recommend freezing dry food, but I am not sure how much I trust their opinion on anything. Their reasoning is that it can attract moisture and mold.
