The cynic among us wonders how much (if any) the actually owners will get, after all the lawyers parachute in to sue.

Our guess, not much at all.

How vicious and uncivilized. Good for the residents. They deserve every cent and then some. I hope that company is put out of business, and everyone in the company who was involved in this savagery spends the rest of their lives in jail.

I agree that those responsible MUST be held accountable. If it takes money, great amounts of money, to get their attention, then so be it. Perhaps the "good" that will come out of this tragedy is attention to the plight of the animals and steps to make their lives safer and more humane. Can't imagine what a horror that must have been for the pet owners . . . UNBELIEVABLE!
I sure wouldn't want to travel to Puerto Rico if I had to face such a disturbing animal situation. Found a similar situation in the South Pacific islands (Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, etc) and it spoiled the entire cruise for me.

Good, soak 'em for every dollar you can get out of them. This was horrid. I also read that Puerto Rico is very worried the negative publicity might cut into their tourist business. They say they plan a campaign to educate on proper pet care and on reporting abandoned animals [which is ironic, since these seized pets were being properly cared for and were not abandoned], but animal welfare groups say the country has almost nothing in the way of spay/ neuter programs and suggest everyone take advantage of this sad situation and write to the governor and tell him to spend more money on spay/neuter programs, to stop the rampant overpopulation of dogs and cats there. Many dogs are simply taken to certain beaches and abandoned. They wander there, slowly starving or succumbing to disease, or till a rescue group catches some and flies them to the US to be adopted. They've saved about 1,000 this way. see www.saveasato.org for details

any human who took part in the abduction of the pets from their homes should be abducted from their homes and euthanized. In this situation, an eye for an eye. Just like the dognappers in the Philliphines who steal and sell and slaughter dogs for meat. Those people should be clubbed over the head after being stuffed in cages just like the dog victims and then slaughtered and cooked up to serve as meat by the same restaurants that buy the poor terrified and victimized dogs from them. Again, an eye for an eye.
