I found this related article:

http://www.mississauga.com/article/5726

The second paragraph is interesting:

"According to reports, the company (Menu Foods) will sell a production facility in the United States and other assets to Mars Inc., after that company decided it no longer wanted Menu to produce its Royal Canin and Nutro brands of pet food."

My cat died from a prescription Royal Canin food. I could never find out if they were one of MenuFood's customers, but evidently they were. So they are losing Mars, Inc. Good for Mars for dumping Menu Foods.

My vet filed a claim on my behalf for my cat and Royal Canin sent me a check for the full cost of the vet bills.

I encourage the big pet food companies to continue to put lovely pictures of chicken, beef salmon and all those fabulous images of fresh veggies on their packaging. Please continue to call your stuff Holistic , Natural or Organic. Some people will fall into their evil trap of thinking this bag of pet food (sorry, it is not food) is healthy. But for most people, the game is over, done, complete, finished. And the more they do this kind of false advertising, the more it shows just how silly they are.

Maybe we should help P&G ~ check out their brands and don't buy them. Can't imagine that all of their other products are pure, wholesome, and humane. Just a thought . . .

Menu Foods has not suffered enough. Maybe they should think "karma", oh if we do the right thing and take care of the people whose animals we killed or maimed, maybe our reputation would began to recover. But don't think this is going to happen. The only thing they can think about is their losses. No mention of all the pet losses they caused.
P&G, too bad they are still making money (boo hoo its not as much as they wanted). Apparently, not enough people are boycotting Iam and Eukanuba. Folks don't fall for their pretty marketing and pretty bags. Has P&G made good on claims from pet parents? Does anyone know? I noticed they have spared no expense on marketing. I hope their next quarter's profits show a loss.

"In related recall news, a spokesperson for Procter & Gamble recently said that the company is individually addressing customer concerns from the pet food recalls."

So how exactly are they addressing concerns? Haven't heard my phone ring. They just brushed me off.

How about the dry dog food issue. How have they addressed the issue that it may have affected dogs by making them sick or died.

Oh, yeah, I forgot, its safe to eat. Tell that to my dead dog. Do you think it brought any comfort to her as she was dying to know it wasn't the food. It doesn't bring any comfort to me. IMO.

IAM's natural and healthy new packaging dog food is a joke. Why now, what about the other dry food? Wasn't that healthy to eat? It's just all PR.......B...S...

Don't know how people who work for these pf companies sleep at night. How they can believe the BS on how safe their pet food is. This also includes the Vets who are still selling this garbage.

I'd like a troll's answer. Honestly....

Just yesterday, I got a $2.00 off coupon to be redemned at the Vets office for more garbage from Hill's considering I don't buy it. What a joke....just wasting money on mail costs, instead of making a product that is safe for pets or helping pet owners.

Do pf companies think that they can buy us off with a $ 2.00 off coupon?
My pet is dead. Why do I want your coupon?

Don is going after the FDA to MAKE them do their job!
http://www.petfoodrecallfacts.com/legal.html

Go Don GO!

Gee, ya think it is gonna look REALLY bad that the FDA went sneaking around the labs to get the samples the very day they decided to stand down?

Today is the six month anniversary of the death of my first cat, and six
months from now I will probably not have my remaining two, who are
ill and dying. I am truly sorry that every pet food manufacturer who
has used meat unfit for any consumption, added toxic and deadly chemical
cocktails to up the protein content, foul and moldy grains that should not be in anyone's food, and hidden the ingredients from every
consumer behind phony advertising and obscure labeling is still in business.
I am angry that mandatory testing and quality control by our government
has not been put into place, along with severe criminal and civil penalties
for producing and marketing deadly food to pets and people.
You can change the labels and the packaging all you want, advertise the
garbage as new and reformulated, but I don't believe you can any longer
fool the consumers as you so successfully did before March 16, 2007.
I truly hope the pet food industry realizes that for most of us, no one is going to buy your garbage-for-profit food. It would seem that you think
you can resume business as usual without making any changes except
put "new" on the packages of unimproved product and bombarding the consumer with barages of ads. I don't believe the consumers are going
to follow your spin-doctors any more, and your money would be better
spent cooperating with government regulation, and doing the honest
research and development to make a decent product, which apparently
the manufacturers have never done. Scraps from rendering plants and
the slaughterhouse floor does not make decent food, no matter how many chemicals you add.

I don't feel sorry for any of them, they brought it on themselves by being greedy. They can change the product name, put it in a fancy bag : but it will still be made with fillers, decaying product and questionable product. Never in my house again. Why would I want to chance my dog's life again??

My constant phone calls to P&G re: senior dog food were never answered and they never showed any care or concern. So I don't care about them. I hope they pay with diminished sales for a long time. I'm sure they will be selling the product line at some point if there is a low return on investment. Animal feed to them is only about profit and margin.

Mars, seems to think putting their name on the plant and production line will make us all think great! contamination gone, better food production, accountability, etc. I don't know who they are kidding??? they bare responsibility for the Menu Food fiasco just like all the rest of the PFI. They can have a fancy bldg., claim to be employing lots of people, have fancy bags and cans; however like P&G it's only about profit and margin, get that product out there and rake in those bucks.

What they need to do is become responsible, honest, and make it right with the pet parents who had animals who were sick or died.

My boycot has been on since the end of March, and every chance I get, I continue to educate others. I feel no sympathy for any of them. They had their chance - they failed.

Well, golly, and here I'd just been told that boycotting doesn't work. Pffttt. Of course, it does.

I've lost track of how many people I've turned away from Iams, Purina, Science Diet, and other trash. They have dogs and cats ranging in age from two months to 15 years. I handed out samples of dry food we feed our pets and they tried it on their own dogs and cats. They couldn't devour it fast enough! Even the animals who were said to be "too picky" to ever switch. And their people were thrilled to discover that good food costs about the same amount as the trash they previously purchased. Every last one has now gone to Evangers, Canidae, Felidae, Merrick, and/or home cooking. Their dogs' and cats' gastro upset and allergies have disappeared or greatly diminished, too, and those folks are out convincing others to switch foods.

Boycotting works. So does educating others, especially if you've got the opportunity to share a cup or two of the foods that will help keep the animals safe. Seeing the enthusiasm with which it's eaten convinces people to give it a try, it really does.

http://www.dmnews.com/cms/dm-news/search-marketing/42076.html

The pet food companies BOUGHT a way to keep people from finding out the truth.
This is just one example.
While pets were dying because the list of symptoms was not on the news, while poison was STILL on the store shelves killing, while the suffering was going on and on, they bought ads and a way to cover their butt.
And left the sick and the dead and _US_ swinging in the breeze.
And they did it with YOUR money.
Money YOU paid for a poison labeled as premium pet food.

They owe every dime back. With interest.

The new marketing I have seen on the (new) TV screens that are actually hanging from the ceilings in the Grocery Stores now playing the ridiculous promos about the "New and Improved All Natural's" from Iams, Purina and other poison and puke pet food companies. All you have to do is read the ingredients and know that the commercials are all lies and even the ingredient list does not tell the real truth when it comes to the actual toxic crap that is still in the garbage that they are selling as 'All Natural and Wholesome". Petsmart and Petco are bombarding my mailbox with special offers for bags of Iams, Eukauba, Purina and Science Diet and Natural Balance of which none of those brands will I ever purchase again. (I used to be a regular and good customer of theirs)They have lost my trust forever and Home cooking is now the only way. My 4 dogs thank me every day with shining eyes and smiling faces, jumping with health and vigor and shining coats that are beyond compare!

(I used to be a regular and good customer of theirs)They have lost my trust forever and Home cooking is now the only way. My 4 dogs thank me every day with shining eyes and smiling faces, jumping with health and vigor and shining coats that are beyond compare!

That reminds me, I have a couple of bottles of an Iams product that needs to be tested.
Thanks for reminding me!
Savory sauce, looks like vomit in a bottle and I wonder what ExperTox will have to say about what is REALLY in it.

Who knew that lab tests could be such riveting reading material?
