Rawlings Ends Sponsorship With Vick
Michael Vick has lost another sponsor, Rawlings Sporting Goods. The company announced today that it is terminating its relationship with Vick because of dogfighting conspiracy charges.
Rawlings used Vick’s image in promotional displays in stores.
“Rawlings recognizes that Mr. Vick has not been convicted of the charges stemming from his recent indictment,” the St. Louis company said. “However, we have determined that ending our relationship with Mr. Vick at this time is necessary.”
“Rawlings is disappointed about the charges brought against Mr. Vick for his alleged participation in a dogfighting operation,” the company said. “Dogfighting is illegal and entirely unacceptable to Rawlings.”
Last week, Nike suspended their contract with Vick, and Reebok stopped sales of his jersey. Upper Deck removed all Vick autographed memorabilia from its online store and said it was removing Vick trading cards from NFL sets to be released in October.

I heard on the radio that Vick is pleading guilty - I wish he would mend his dog-fighting ways but I guess that’s asking a bit too much. He’ll probably talk the good talk but what goes on behind the scenes is a different matter all together.

Lou Dobbs is going to have on tonight that Bush wants to bring in even more food from China.
I ordered my t-shirts.

Oh, how could he. Bush needs to rethink the “more food from China” and that’s putting it politely!

Bush needs to THINK period. Is he able to is the question.

I am still under the impression that we are in the United States of America. And you are innocent until proven Guilty. Poor Vick has been sentenced and thrown to the dogs. (so to speak) No trial until November. Come on is that a speedy trial.

I don’t mean to hijack this topic about Vick…. but I just read on CNN that Fisher Price is recalling a bunch of toys made in China. Lead poisoning.

Now….back to Vick.

GOOD on Rawlings for taking a stand! Especially when other companies have acted with a “wait and see” attitude. Yes, I know he hasn’t been found guilty in court, but it’s plain for everyone to see he was involved on some level and he knew what was going on at that house. I’m glad at least one of Vick’s endorsements is gone forever. Hopefully there will be more to follow.

came across this link of someone who supports the “Legalization of DogFighting”…the idiot can’t even get his facts straight….he says Vick asked for a “bench” trial….Vick asked for a JURY TRIAL…what a moron!

Denise I agree with you, I also think he is sick.

Oh come on Grandma Rosy…..get with the program! I agree with Lynn. Vick’s house, Vick’s dog fighting equipment, Vick’s funding. He doesn’t deserve a trial.

I cannot belive Vick!I think he is deserves to lose all his endorsement! He is a dumb football player who does not know when to quit or how to act. People are looking down on him as a hero and a role model, right now I dont know if he ever was.

Vick is a disapointment to all of us! He is a football player that does not know how to act.Iam glad that all of those big endorsments that sponsored him are gone. He knew what he was doing so now he must face the consequences! That jerk!!!!

Vick and his cousins/friends horrifically abused and also tortured and murdered dogs for years. That has already been proven and how anyone can still be in denial of that shows they are on the same level as Vick. And as for the “so called friends and family” they are the ones who have flipped on him now and let the police and the public know what really went on for all those years ! How those poor dogs must have suffered. I can only imagine the betrayal and terror and physical pain and suffering they must have felt. Someone will burn in hell for all of this. Their time will come from a higher power.

A lot has been posted about the NAACP’s involvement in this case. BC at Americablog has an excellent post:
http://www.americablog.com/200.....acter.html
He points out the sharp discrepancy between the Vick case and the NAACP’s stance in the Duke LaCrosse team rape charges.
