Blue is one of the companies. They just issued a recall of their kitten food, based on a test for melamine that came back positive “last evening.” Why did they wait until the end of this business day? (I guess the other companies are waiting even longer but still…)

Why do they wait so late when it WAS TESTED LAST NIGHT????
I’m sure there are several kittens out there that ate Blue Buffalo today.
WHO ARE THE OTHER 4 COMPANIES!!!!!!!!

I think I know the company in Utah. There aren’t that many pet food companies and they do use RCP (rice protein concentrate). The brand names seem to be the cheapy brands made with corn, etc. This one produces 290,000 tons of pet food and snacks per year… they also do cat litter, I hope not in the same facility!
I’m reluctant to name it but perhaps I will post some info on my blog: http://safepetfood.wordpress.com
You don’t suppose Science Diet is the one in Kansas who got the RCP?

Oh, what the heck. We’ll know in a matter of hours. Hope they don’t do another late-Friday-night recall alert.

They will announce it “after the bell” on Friday. Nestle stock went up today because they are buying Gerber. If I had an infant I would be thrilled with that news, not.
