Rocker’s Cat Forced To Smoke Crack Cocaine
A picture of a cat addicted to crack cocaine was leaked by friends of the frontman for the band The Babyshambles. Pete Doherty, who was dating Kate Moss, is said to be regularly getting his cats high on drugs. “They said it PASSES OUT with its paws in the air, suffers MOOD SWINGS and even thinks it can FLY,” according to the description in the UK’s The Sun tabloid. The leaked picture of the cat Dinger — named after a slang term for a syringe — is shown above.
Friends of Doherty say that he finds the drugged out cat to be “hilarious”.
“He even made a special mini-crack pipe out of a bottle so it can get the maximum hit.
“But the kitten is starting to get really bad withdrawal symptoms.
“It has lost some of its balance and takes huge risks jumping over things that are too high. It thinks it can fly. It’s really distressing to see.â€
The UK’s RSPCA declined to launch an investigation into the matter citing lack of evidence.
The problem of animals on drugs isn’t limited to this one instance. We reported on a story of a vet treating a cat addicted to cocaine in Australia. And The Sun claims that in the US, “crack squirrels are a recognized problem in New York and Washington DC parks.”

I’ve always said, this country has got to strengthen it’s laws to match the new, emerging criminals. They should take punks like this and literally put them away for 10 years without the possibility of parole. And, start thinning down death row to make room. No wonder other countries have such a low opinion of the U.S.
This is where the Islamic countries have it over the U.S., they would chop off hands and feet as punishment without a second thought.

Just when you think you’ve heard it all. What on earth is wrong with these people. I agree with you Gary and Lynn; we need a functioning court system, judges who aren’t afraid to give lengthy sentences, court systems that don’t favor the criminal; and someone out there to stand up for victim’s rights both human and animal.

folks! you may want to contact the RSPCA and other UK agencies. i don’t think this is happening in the states. it won’t hurt to contact some agencies here, but the agencies there need to be clued in also that the public is not happy with the lack of action.

His newest recordings are under the EMI/Parlophone label, which has a whole slew of performers, some great, others ….let’s just say, not my taste. In any case, one could boycott ALL the performers on that label. Punish them all for the sins of one. I know, doesn’t seem fair. But it’s one way to make a point.

This just disgusts me! I do not understand how the authorities do not consider this worth investigating ~ I mean, take a look at the photo. Certainly there must be animal welfare groups in the UK who are now aware of what this “performer” is doing to his cat. I agree that this poor cat has likely had some very serious damage to his little body. IT’S SICK!!

Why stop with just record labels? Boycott any publication with photos and/or stories involving Kate Moss. Don’t buy any of her fashion line. She is involved, too. Even if they are no longer together. (I have no idea - I don’t follow the tabloids). She closed her eyes to what was going on. It is so sad that no action has been taken - it’s even sadder to know that the only way to get somebody’s attention is to hit them in the pocketbook. The pet food fiasco taught me that lesson.

The comment regarding the RSPCA was that there was not enough evidence to investigate. Is the photograph included with the article not enough evidence? Here in Canada, a phone call from someone to the humane society is enough for an investigation. I sincerely hope that this is a disturbing enough story for a second thought about whether or not to go ahead. This is a very sick individual with a terrible drug problem who is taking every other form of life down with him. Please do something about this.
Hopefully, they will take note that they’re in the limelight. In a real bad way. Next up, the record label.

As sick as feeding helpless cats cocaine would indeed be, I’m amazed so few people managed to pick out a few key words…

… that make me think maybe the RSPCA has a point about the “lack of [reliable] evidence.” Particularly since tabloids do tend to have a well-known penchant for doctoring photos and pulling stories out of their rears. Given the webcam-esque, extreme jpeg blurriness, lack of actual identifiable facial features… I’d have to say that is pretty poor evidence, actually. They can’t even identify their supposed “sources” by name.
If some stranger showed up with a tabloid picture like that clutched in their hand and demanded access to your house, yammering about drugs and harm to animals, I’m sure you’d be perfectly happy to let them into your house with your pets and children, too. Uh-huh.

So.. will all the researchers that addict many MILLIONS of animals every year to tobacco, alcohol, heroine, cocaine and crack, as well as the countless millions of pharmaceutical preparations, will they also be jailed, do they make you sick? Is it any different because it is “in the name of science” (what a fraud), its in the name of dollars, or entertainment, or personal desire whatever… I’m not saying its right or justified, i’m saying focus attention where attention is due. When you take that tylenol, or cigarette, or other pharmaceutical preparation, you are funding much worse activities than this.
Think about that, and then do something about that.
