Looks like United Pet Group is another one of those “companies” that doesn’t make anything - they simply buy brands for their portfolio.

IMHO, it’s best to avoid brands that are owned by holding companies, investment parters, etc. Such companies have no duty (to answer questions, or to disclose recalled food) to pet owners because the pet owner is not the customer.

To the pet food companies that think we are “hysterical” pet parents due to wanting details of what has happened to recalled/poisoned foods—and why when we see the same packaging “with relabeling” we go nuts—this is why!!
This is why I will check Itchmo for my first site each morning.

I’m about to go nuts and return the aquarium pump and can of fish flakes that I just bought.
A stealth recall is unacceptable, and I won’t support such unethical behavior.

This is just lovely, I bought a bag of Ecotrition rabbit food JUST LAST NIGHT! (first time ever purchased this brand…)
Both rabbits have ate the stuff, I know that its not on the recall list (yet)
BUT what really ticks me off is the fact that I stood there in the dang store reading the back of bags of all these different brands looking for the ones ‘made in USA’
I finally picked this brand (Ecotrition) because it states on the back of the bag
‘MADE AND PRINTED IN THE USA’ !!!!
GGGGRRRRRRRR
January 4th, 2008 at 11:53 am
“MADE AND PRINTED IN THE USA’ !!!!” probably only refers to the label itself.
I don’t think I’m kidding…

It’s far from over, folks.

…Made in USA… but really made and packaged in China or elsewhere? Now that sounds like a good consumer complaint to the Federal Trade Commission for false advertising.
The stealth actions included pulling imported chicken jerky strips for salmonella contamination. Big surprise. Aren’t those allegedly irradiated? And aren’t irradiated foods allegedly safe because there can’t be any live bacteria? So were those irradiated and if so how did they get contaminated or remain contaminated and exactly what are they doing to eliminate that possibility in the future? Inquiring minds want to know and like to ask difficult questions…

Later this evening, when I have a little more time I think that I’ll take a pic of the bag and the words stating ‘made and printed in the USA’ and post it here here for everyone to see.
Maybe its not ALL of their products that are made in USA or something.
I’m very curious to know wether or not
b) Ecotrition Tropical Fruit and Honey Bars
have that printed on those bags as well.
Would love to hear from anyone here that possibly have a bag of the stuff and could look at it and let us know.

GET THIS CHINESE CRAP OFF THE SHELVES!!!
MONEY IS MORE IMPORTANT TO RICH CORPORATIONS THAN PEOPLE AND THEIR PETS!!
TOO MANY PUPPIES ACROSS AMERICA ARE SILENTLY DYING FROM THIS CRAP!!
HERE’S OUR BABY ROSIES STORY..
“OUR SWEET GYPSY ROSE” WE MISS HER SOO MUCH! IT’S NOT FAIR!.. HER WEBSITE: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/614878
In our hearts we know that our pet Rosie, a 3 year old Chihuahua was poisoned from Chinese made Bestro’s Jerky Chicken Strips #77849 00006 1 We have this contaminated bag. We have three Chihuahuas and one of them died July 21, 2007. Rosie started with vomiting and dehydration (she was drinking lots of water)and then we were told she may either have an obstruction or have been poisioned. Since our dogs are inside dogs and we are with them at all times outside we thought it was an obstruction. Finally the doctor said he was almost positive it was some kind of poisoning . They were going to scope her but before that could happen she died July 21, at VCA in Fountain Valley, California. We gave our dogs Waggin train and Bestro’s Jerky Chicken Strips. ( Labeling is very deceiving) Our Sweet Gypsy Rose (our chihuahua that passed) loved them and and she would eat all the treats we put down for the other dogs too. Up until today we never had any idea what happened but now with Wal Mart pulling this quietly from their shelves back in 2007. I truly believe that is why she died. Rosie wants all dog owners to be aware of this and a Total Recall of this chinese junk pet food treats so other puppies don’t slowly suffer is she did. We are totally heartbroken and will never forget Our Sweet Gypsy Rose! Since Wal Mart had this problem before, why didn’t they pull all that Chinese junk off the first time? Our Rosie would still be alive! Some one from Wal Mart said They warned us about it? What? Are we suppose to play Russian Rouette and try to find the treats without the poison? Give me a break! Wal Mart is responsible just as much as China…You have one guy growing cocain and opium, drugs and he sells to another guy and this guy sells to your son…your son dies. Who’s responsible? Is Wal Mart AND OTHER STORES concerned about people and their Pets or Money? You figured it out. GOD IS ON OUR SIDE!!!

Well, looks like the Chinese will just keep trying to ship these in and hope that one day an inspector will be looking the other way and, viola, onto the shelves they go. Now, on the other hand, all of you people who are complaining about Chinese tainted pet products, how much do you buy from Wal-Mart??? Want to guess where most of their goods come from. Well, why just risk poisoning your pets when you can also get lead painted items for your human kids to play with. The bottom line people is that you need to wake up. Realize just where products are coming from and what is in those products. A little self-education can go a very long way.

Well said Buddy & Belle’s Dad.
It’s not just Walmart, it’s all those stinking dollar stores and all the junk they sell too. As long as we buy Junk made in China they willl continue to ship it over here.
We are sending our jobs overseas and importing things we should be making ourselves! Something is wrong with this picture!!!

Gene and Gerri Richards,
I am so sorry for your loss. The PFI, FDA, & China are to blame for this along with the pet food companies who knowly continue to purchase & place this crap in the food. Also to blame are the companies who continue to put this CRAP on their shelves!
IF ITS FROM CHINA, ITS NOT SAFE!
Made in the USA means nothing! It may be made in the USA with all of China’s TOXIC CRAP!!!! These b******s dont give a ratts a** about us or our pets. It makes me sick!

These days the only thing “Made in the USA” is the label.
January 6th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Im so so sorry for your loss as they are members of our families.
Probably the only thing made in america was the bag itself which is rediculous. I noticed when wrapping my Christmas gifts alot of things are made in China but the wrapping paper and tags were made in US.
I think its @#s backward.
They need to stop importing anything from China. Many companies went there because they can get away with slave wages and there are no laws for the pollution they are spewing out. China never had cancer as it does now.
We need a truth in labeling law here. I had been feeding my shih tzu science diet till I found out that its owned by Colagate palmolive in the first recalls. Nowhere on the bag does it say this, they just have a Kansas addy.
I am lucky as we have a petfood manufacturer 1 hr away and they dont buy on the comodities market or manufacture in China. Everything is made in Pa.
Also what about our food too? I found out that something I thought was good~nutra grain bars~all the ingrediants are grown ev erywhere But the US. Its scary.

I once thought Russia would be the beast to attack. I was wrong. It’s China!
