Why was the dog left alone? This girl (and for some reason I am shocked it's a girl that did this, and an 18 year old at that) BROKE into the home so she wasn't in charge of dogsitting or anything. Regardless, stuff like this, which unfortunately happens all too often, needs to come with much stiffer punishment. Empty the jails of minor offences such as marijuana possession, and make room for the perps that really deserve to be in jail.
