Actually, this is stiff punishment when you look at what Vet Boards see nationwide and do NOTHING. That doesn’t make it right, though, that he will EVER have his license again. I surely hope pet owners will stay away from him in DROVES.

He doesn’t see anything wrong with it, but he held these animals and knew the fear and pain they were experiencing.

Take my word for it: the vet board would have done NOTHING about this without VIDEO evidence and news coverage. They hear bad cases all the time that would break your heart but do NOTHING because no matter how outlandish and unbelievable, when it’s a vets word against a client, they always believe the vet. The difference? Video evidence and coverage.

The moral: If you want anything done, get video, get recordings, GET NEWS COVERAGE. Check your state laws on taping before doing the audio, quite ironically, surruptitious audio taping is illegal in some states where video taping is legal. Frankly, I believe that law serves only to protect LIARS and I live in one of those states.

Lynn, I’m sure the Veterinary Board is made up of other vets. They have a personal interest in not making the veterinary profession look bad. Also, they are probably living in glass houses themselves, so they don’t want to throw any stones. Any profession that polices itself is under suspicion, I believe.

I completely agree that this “vet” is a person who should never be able to have a veterinary license again. There is enough evidence to show he has no concern for the pain and suffering of animals.

And, his excuse that he “didn’t know” that the heart shot was banned shows he is ignorant or stupid–neither are good traits for a vet. A pox on him.

This man belongs in jail. In my mind what he did is worse than what Michael Vick did and he got a slap on the hand. It was more like a slap in the face to the people of Tennessee. There is something mentally wrong with people who think that this is an ok outcome.

Watch the Fox17 report. It’s on the front page under “Top Video Stories” right now. It shows part of Baber’s testimony and he is interviewed briefly. I love the part where he says, “Because of what I will have to endure…”

There’s something seriously wrong with the veterinary board that they would allow this man to keep his license. Either they see a need for a needle happy killer in the shelters and that’s why they’ve allowed him to stay in the profession. Or it’s simply because they don’t crucify their own.

Let’s be realistic here [and do NOT for one second assume I am defending Baber]: Anyone who does assembly line murders has to put his brain on autopilot and zone out, otherwise he would go crazy doing what he does. But then I suppose there are those who are so totally immune to inflicting pain. Remind you of psychopathic serial killers?

I say send Winograd to Tennessee and have him build, at Baber’s expense, a model shelter where killing is not permitted.

This man is so full of crap! HOW can a veterinarian NOT KNOW the state laws? That’s just a load of bull!

5 years’ probation and $2k is not enough, but I guess it’s a start. Why isn’t he in JAIL for 5 years, though!

GAAAAH! This makes me nuts.

I hope the new AC and shelter team do a better job.
