Convicted for hiring a hit man? Then gets off after one year in prison? The man fits the definition of a sociopath. The Vet Board should have been astute--and caring--enough to see that. And should never have given his license back. That entire board should have been replaced with people who take their responsibility seriously. Just shameful. And unbelievable what occurs in this country.

ok for those of you who think having more then 7 healthy clean well fed cats on a clean comfortable bed equals ' hoarding' if youre not sanctioned by the state-

here's someone licensed by the state with dead animals in a bag AT HIS HOUSE ( not at his work which would also be sick). the word missing,HB, from the original story is " dogs"- bags of dead decomposing dogs. also missing is the description of the coating of urine and poop found all about.

that is what is called hoarding.

i took my cats up for that final ride together to the pet cemetery/crematory myself.i was also with the last 4 when they died. i would probably opt to bury them but i rent and live in the city so that's not an option anymore. i carefully cleaned them if necessary, sniped a small locket of fur for a keep sake and wrapped them in one of my t shirts and then some red velvet. they will keep them wrapped like that for the process. then we have a nice ride to the country. i have carved their urns myself. i have to say- at first it was very very difficult- heart wrenching. but once i pushed myself past the ' dead body thing' and realized they werent there anymore i could be absolutely sure their earthly remains would be treated with the dignity and respect theyd known in life. it was just my small part and helped me grieve and let go.

people used to prepare their own family members for death themselves and wake them in their homes. who says you can trust morticians either? i recall a guy they discovered was tossing people's coffins in the sheds in his back yard instead of burying them. i actually really really like the vet who euthanized some of my cats in my home but i still took the body's to be cremated myself.

This is something that I hate to bring up, because its just upsetting to think about but I've worked for 3 different vet clinics so please take this advice seriously.

If you have to have your pet put to sleep, please stay with your pet while they do it, or at least ask to spend a few moments with the deceased pet afterwards. That is,,, if you dont plan on taking the body home with you.

You would be amazed at how many people say their final goodbyes to the pet and then leave before the procedure is even performed.

Just a word of caution.
Horrible to think about, but I felt that I should mention it.

A little bit OT, but did anyone see American Idol night before last -- the auditions in Philadelphia?

The one totally unhinged chick who said she was studying to become a veterinarian, but she'd rather be a star, and when she didn't make it, she got angrier and angrier and angrier. Like, a little scary -- anger management issues.

Makes me wonder about the kinds of people who are attracted to veterinary medicine. While most of them probably go into it for the "right" reasons, I believe there is a subset that go into it for access to helpless beings they can take their frustration out on.

See the kind of things a vet can do and STILL get his license reinstated??? He hired a hit man for crying out loud, to kill somebody. Is it any wonder he keeps animals in this condition? To state the obvious, there goes the abuse connection again: As someone treats animals, so they will treat people, and vice versa.

But these State Vet Boards don't think ANYTHING is bad enough to take a vets license away. It's so crazy.
