I have a pit mix whose owner kicked in many of her teeth. I also have a pit girl from a fighter who beat her until her head is flat on one side leaving her with permanent brain damage. We adopted out a senior dog to a kind man with a little pit girl who was force bred and is afraid of almost everyone and every dog except our senior gentleman. Having seen dogs this abused and knowing how much they can heal and become a part of a family I pray that all of Vick’s dogs get the chance. It takes time and love and patience, but they can be part of a home. Our two have happy lives and little Petunia loves her friend Cody and even shares her bones with him. Oh lest I forget to mention, we took Cody because his owner was going to kill him for being older and in the way. He’s not in Petunia’s way at all. :)

Bless Best Friends and Bad Rap for giving these tortured dogs a chance at having a life!

I too wish that some of the other inmates would make Vick their love slave. Let him know that it feels like to be forcibly raped over and over. Happy Valentine’s Day Mikey!

The abuse of helpless critters makes me so upset I can’t even put words to it.
The only justice here is that these poor dogs are now getting the love and care that they deserve. Hopefully they can be rehabilitated and go to loving families. May God bless those that are caring for them.

I would love to see Vick and his friends get what they gave. They are animals nothing short of animals. I don’t belveive for one minute that there is any help for any of them. They can’t fix them. Thank god there is help for these pups but someone said not others that go through this. I live 20 miles from detroit and they fight those dogs all over and even in inkster a suburb of Detroit. we need stronger laws. Take care everyone. sincerely, Denise

That’s about all he has going for him in any department.

I don’t donate any cash to the ASPCA, HSUS or PETA. I do donate to Best Friends and have for years. If you are in their area, Kanab Utah, a really gorgeous place, you can visit and even volunteer to help out with the dogs, cats, horse, birds, rabbits, etc. they have living there.
They have a wonderful magazine you get when you donate and it is full of great rescue stories, pet information and tons of pictures.

Bestfriends was one of the places that fought to keep the dogs alive.
Bestfriends Animal Sanctuary is huge and follows no kill policies. They have about 1500-1700 animal at any given time and just about any kind you can think of. They just finished up a rescue of about 800 cats in Nevada. I read about what they do on their website. This place makes HSUS, PETA and ASPCA look like cold blooded killers. Keep in mind the last three mentioned wanted the dogs killed. They approve of the breed specific killing where Bestfriends does not. The 800 cats HSUS, PETA and ASPCA would have also killed.
Funny thing, too, Michael Vick, I think, was offered to visit Bestfriends and never did. I guess PETA showed him some videos because PETA has no sanctuary. My opinion Michael Vick will never change so I hope the courts watch him forever and never let him have animals, Ever!

What a beautiful picture to start this story off with. They are just dogs that want love, compassion and a forever home like any other dog. I like alot of you are sicken by what I read in these stories. I dont understand how some people can be so sick and heartless, how do you sleep at night? Its just not fair that there punishment isnt enough for what they have done. They will pay in the end. I hope each any everyone of those pitbulls learns that there are good, loving humans out there and will learn to trust again.

Heartbreaking and infuriating, especially Georgia. Vick’s “sentence” is a slap on the wrist for the daily torture he and his cohorts inflicted on these innocent animals. No punishment will ever right the wrongs they committed. I hope they all, especially Georgia, have long lives ahead of them and that, with love and care, they can know happiness for the first time. And as for Vick himself, I am reminded of the words a murder victim’s mother said of the accused after the guilty verdict: “I hope he rots in hell.”

You wonder if some of these dogs ever will recover, despite the top-level rehab care they are receiving.

I pray Vick won’t get a day short of his sentence, poor Georgia, having her teeth pulled and we know she wasn’t given anyting for pain before, during or after..how about doing the same to Vick, a leopard doesn’t change their colors, he is a beast and will remain a beast the rest of his life.

I wonder what women in Vick’s life saw in him knowing well what he and his cohorts did to female dogs like Georgia. I wonder how those women sleep at night. Does Vick and his cohorts have any daughter of their own?

I am so happy that these dogs are now finding that most humans have compassion and love for their animals. We are not all “beasts” like Mike Vick and his friends.

the teeth thing and that they have to be carried because theyre scared of the leash made me blind with rage….

people HAVE to understand that this is not the standard rehab sort of care available to most dogs who emerge from dog fighting situations. it’s vick’s money that’s allowing it to be so. in most cases, no money is available for such specialized, human interaction intensive critical care that could turn a dog around and they’re euthanized for lack of the options money and DONATIONS and VOLUNTEERING could provide.

i am never surprised at the power of love. i’ve had abused cats who loathed humans come around to be loving lap cats through patience and love.
