Vick’s Property Reveals Horrifying Dog Fighting Evidence
Warning: This post may disturb some readers.
Federal investigators say NFL quarterback Michael Vick’s property has been the staging site of dog fighting for years, dating back to 2002. The property may have housed and trained more than 50 dogs at any given time. The descriptions of the dog fighting conditions are sickening.
Investigators have been digging up ground in what seems to be an effort to find dead dogs involved in training or fighting. So far, graves of seven pit bulls have been found by investigators. Those pit bulls were likely used by members of “Bad Newz Kennels” to test the fighting ability of the dogs.
Vick’s Web site lists his birthplace as Newport News, Va., “a.k.a. BadNews.” However, Vick has not been named in any court documents obtained by the Associated Press. Vick’s attorney says that the property was used by someone else and that Vick had no knowledge of what was happening. But informants put Vick at the dog fights.
More from the AP:
Fifty-four pit bulls were recovered from the property during searches in April, along with a “rape stand,” used to hold dogs in place for mating; an electric treadmill modified for dogs; and a bloodied piece of carpeting, the documents said.
The documents said the fights usually occurred late at night or in the early morning and would last several hours. The winning dog would win from “100’s up to 1,000’s of dollars,” and participants and spectators also bet on the dogfights.
Fights would end when one dog died or with the surrender of the losing dog, which was sometimes put to death by drowning, strangulation, hanging, gun shot, electrocution or some other method, according to the documents.

This is SICK!!! I find it hard to believe that Vick had no knowledge of what was going on ~ especially since he was placed at the fights by witnesses. Regardless of his status as a “professional” athlete, he should be held accountable and punished beyond the limits of the law. I believe there is a special place in @#$#@ for people who deliberately maim, kill, hurt animals and children. It breaks my heart to think of what those poor dogs went through . . . for what purpose? The sick and sadistic ‘enjoyment” by some very evil people.

The names given to these activities by the parties reveals a deep level of evil. Not that this is an actual issue, but given the thousands of dollars involved, and the access to medical supplies (legal and otherwise) one would imagine that they could euthanize these dogs. Instead, they chose various sadistic methods to kill them. Evil. Pure evil.
As the ASPCA has noted, torture of animals is often exhibited by individuals who commit hideous crimes against other people as well. One wonders about the other criminal acts of those involved which have yet to be revealed.

Vick and his attorney are obviously lying and this athelete was given a golden opportunity of a lifetime and he chose to do these violent, hideous, evil activities against innocent animals with the over-inflated salary he is paid. This truly shows what kind of an individual he is and we can only imagine the horrible things that will never be discovered that he has done in the past. He should be prosecuted to the fullest and stricter laws against atheletes who participate and are role models for our youth, should be waged.

What happened to personal responsibility? Let’s say Vicks is telling the truth about not being involved and not knowing what was going on. What is he? Deaf, dumb and blind? I’m getting tired of this stupid Ken Lay/Enron defense that lawyers are providing for their clients. He owns the property and he is responsible for what happens on that property. There is no way on earth he could live on that property and not ’see’ all that stuff and hear those dogs. End result - he was there, he was involved, he is guilty and it doesn’t take a lot of brains for someone to figure this out. Oh yeah - that means we have to add ’stupid’ to his disability list because he apparently thinks the rest of us are dumb enough to believe his claims. I also love the way he throws the blame on ‘family’ members. How nice a relative is that?

If anyone’s interested, here’s a link to a PDF of the detailed complaint recently filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in order to take possession of the 53 poor, doomed dogs that were seized by local authorities early on.

I hope to god these dogs are shown some kindness before being put down.

And don’t forget, PETA is right next door?
Why didn’t they do anything? They knew it was going on, because most people around there did.

Vick is nothing but trash. The NFL should boot his butt out of the league. But they won’t. They’ll just throw more money at him. The team is getting a ton of attention. Even though it’s negative, attention brings in the bucks.

NH,
I totally agree! and wasn’t it less than a month ago that Nike continured their contract with Vick saying there was no concrete evidence of him having done something wrong.
I hope he gets his… and anyone else involved.

Is it Nike, that is made in China, where workers are paid $1.50 a day ? If it is, that company doesn’t have morals. So a morle-less spokesperson would suit them. IMHO

Horrible story. Horrible role model for kids. People that indulge and promote the “sport” of dog fighting sicken me. I hope that justice will prevail.

Nobody could possibly believe that Vick is innocent or unaware and he should not get away with this barbaric activity.
We need to start sending the message that this type of horiffic cruelty is simply not acceptable in this society. One of the best ways to do that in this instance, is to hit them in the pocketbook. Put pressure on the NFL and Vicks’ team by contacting the sponsors — Tell them in no uncertain terms that their products will be boycotted due to their support of this behavior. Then, boycott. Tell your friends and family to do the same.

This jerk [Vick] is sick. I am appalled that the the football leagues condone this disgusting behavior in their players. Please don’t insult my intelligence - Sick Vick KNEW what his property was being used for.
I’m finally understanding why many Europeans think Americans are scum.

That’s true, Lynn. I despise the entire institution of American football even more now. We don’t see European footballers behaving this way.
