Virginia To Pursue Dog Fighting And Animal Cruelty Charges Against Vick And Co-Defendants

Virginia Commonwealth Attorney Gerald Poindexter said that “yes, indeed, we will prosecute” Vick and three other co-defendants on possible animal cruelty and dogfighting charges.

Because of Phillips and Peace’s guilty pleas today, Poindexter said the state now has admissions and evidence of what was done on Vick’s property. Now the state can go forward with the prosecution.

Poindexter stated he is looking at two felony counts - dogfighting and killing of a companion animal. The maximum sentence in Virginia for each charge is five years.

The Surry Grand Jury meets on September 24, but Poindexter will wait on evidence from federal officials to make the complete case. He said indictments may come after September.

Re the VA aspect, read the link:

So now there’s another plea deal that’s being worked up?

This statement is comforting [or would be if it was ever enforced]: ” Under NFL policy, a player can be banned for life for illegal gambling or associating with gamblers.”

  2. Lynn says:

Aha! Read the following - something I can stand up and cheer for:

    *snicker* And there’s video, too!

Lynn - Many will cheer with you.
I’m glad he can be brought up on state charges also. I would be happy with town, state, federal, world, galaxy, etc. charges. Well, you get my point. As many charges as they can throw at him so he’ll do lots of hard time. The NFL needs to set an example. Pete Rose was banned for life from baseball for gambling. C’mon, NFL, get on with it. Throw his sorry as out, and get back to football. Stop pampering these prima donnas.

What’s really pathetic is that there are many other talented guys out there with values we can admire and be proud of, that would be just as good, if not better than Vick, given a chance.

    Ugh. I’m nauseated.

I was just watching SportsCenter on ESPN and, of course, they opened with the Vick case. Kelly Naqi did a piece on details that were stated in the courtroom, but weren’t contained in Phillips’ and Peace’s filed agreements/charges. It turns out that when Vick and his cohorts executed those 7-8 dogs this past April, they decided to HANG them to death…only 3 of them wouldn’t DIE…so Vick, Peace, and Phillips submerged their heads in five-gallon containers of water until they were dead.

    Horrible. The stuff of nightmares.

    Do it to him…………

  8. Lynn says:

Well, well, well……why doesn’t this surprise me? Marcus Vick, brother of Michael. Check these out:

  9. Jenny Bark says:

Lynn, wow you just told me things my husband didn’t know & he knows all about football. Two peas in a ugly pod. On the one site it says Marcus lives with Vic in GA., I bet he knows all about Vic’s dogfighting.

  10. nora says:

These Guys are so dirty……they are low life hood gangsters who will stop at nothing to get their sick thrills. Be it the henious abuse and torture and murder of dogs and I am sure other innocent animals or the degradation and abuse of women. They are ticking time bombs. And what is so idiotic is that they were given such golden opportunities with the Atheletics and schooling they recieved to change their lives and do some good. The choices they made show what they are truly made of. Also Marcus actually thinking anyone would be stupid enough to believe him about the stomping of the other football player was an accident . The video makes it obvious it WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT. They are such liars and manipulators.

Pit Bull Lover, the statement about those dogs executed in April makes me so sick to my stomach. Can you imagine the dogs having to witness their fellow dogs being done in like that and the betrayal and confusion and terror they felt at the hands of these monsters? Those poor dogs waiting their turn to die? OH GOD. I have to hang my head and cry for those poor dogs.

I had a really strong hunch that there were some other bad apples that fell from the tree, so I went a-surfing. Nothing in their bios blew me away. It all fit. Disgusting.

I have to wonder what else the brothers Vick have been involved with.

  13. Jenny Bark says:

Lynn I bet the brothers. close friends & family have been involved in alot. I still think he is going to take a plea but if I’m wrong & it goes to court which I hope) maybe we will find out more than we can even guess at.
