What To Feed Your Dog
We linked to an article earlier regarding why wet food is important to cats. We received complaints of unfairness from itchmo’s Official Dog. And when he threatened to hump every leg in the house, we gave in. That’ll teach him.
The opinions seem to differ on what is a good diet for your dog. Most people recommend a quality protein diet followed by fiber, then carbs (sorry, Dr. Atkins). We’ve compiled a summary and list of diets for your consumption. (Get it? Y R U NOT LOL?)
• BARF
• High-quality dry foods
• Vegetarian/Vegan
Details after the jump.
BARF
Biologically Appropriate Raw Food or The Bone and Raw Food diet. Either the creator of this diet is a marketing genius or an idiot. Somewhat controversial, many people swear by this method. Even in our comments, many parents have indicated that they would switch their dog to BARF.
High-quality dry foods
Meet should be the leading ingredient (not according to just the ingredients list which can mislead, but as a fact). How you come about this data can be tricky, but dry foods are good for dogs, as unlike cats, they can drink water to compensate.
Vegetarian/Vegan
If your dog knew, they’d throw you in their kennel. But hey, they still don’t know it’s not bacon. According to this diet, it actually doesn’t matter where the high-quality protein comes from. And it doesn’t have to come from meat. The Official Dog of itchmo morally objects to this diet, even though the Official Mom of itchmo is one.

WELL-BALANCED, NATURAL, FOOD DELIVERED FROZEN, NATURAL FOOD. It’s very convenient and is a much better solution than junk pet food. It’s a little more pricey, but What little more you spend on free-range antibiotic and hormone free food you’ll save in veterinary bills. Take your money and put it directly into your pet, not your veterinarian’s pocket.

The formulation between cat and dog food are two different beasts. The cat is a true obligate carnivore while the dog is an omnivore.
The labels will appear totally different.
Fyi, keep an eye on the ash content in cat foods too.

I’ve been feeding my Choc lab/Border Collie raw food for the past 18 years !! -and she’s still going strong. Perhaps you’ve seen us at the beach!
I like a product call Darwin’s Natural Pet food. Free home delivery.

I am feeding California Natural and Fromms. Does anyone have any info on this? I have mailed both companies asking for some assurance that they are legitimately monitoring their foods. If they are using Menu then I will no longer use their foods. My dogs do not do well on a raw diet and tho it is organic they still do not do well. I have nine Dogo Argentinos and they have to eat. Any help will be welcome and please feel free to e mail me.
April 2nd, 2007 at 1:43 pm
Barbara: Fromms is made in China. Check the the petsitusa.com annotated list.
April 3rd, 2007 at 10:45 am
Fromm’s made in China? I don’t know where you get your information, but the dry food at least is made in Wisconsin.
April 4th, 2007 at 11:40 pm
Fromm’s gets their wheat gluten from China, which is where the contaminated gluten is said to be from. The product is produced in Wisconsin from ingredients purchased from around the world. I suggest avoiding all wheat-gluten for humans and pets.

My response from Natura re: California Naturals (yes - menu foods)
Subject: RE: menu foods recall and canned California Naturals
Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2007 17:51:04 -0700
If there was a problem with the food, both dogs would have had a reaction. Our foods are not on the list because we do not have the ingredient that the poison was associated in our foods (wheat from China ). The recalls all stem from two Menu Foods plants, our food is not made at either facility. We have had no calls in regards to dogs being ill from the California Natural. It would be difficult to back track on the cans without the date codes from the cans.
I hope your pet is feeling better at this time.

I am a wholistic veterinarian who has been preaching about awful pet foods for years. All first time clients get a full lecture on nutrition as well as what brands to avoid and what brands to use. We recommend Ann Martin’s book, Foods Pets Die For. It is about time the world is waking up to the horrors of dog and cat food. Hippocrates said, “Let food be your first medicine”.
As awful as this entire situation is, let it be a wakeup call.
April 6th, 2007 at 2:13 pm
I beg to differ about Fromm’s manufacturing site. On another list Fromm’s admitted that their WET food is canned at a human food-quality plant in China.
They also stated that the reason for this is that they could not find a place to produce it in the US.. this is probably true as there are very few pet food canning plants in the US outside of Menu Products and those are small ones.
I’m very comfortable with all the brands Natura produces.. they are planning to open their own canning facility here in the US.. They do not use imported products in their pet foods… none..
I’ve communicated extensively with them and they have been very open about their foods. If one dog is reacting I’d check for a food allergy to something in the foods. We have this problem with one of our three dogs.
I will never, never use any product produced in a Menu Products plant anyway because of the animal testing cruelty. Only the manufacturers using Menu Products can put on the kind of pressure we need to stop the animal testing… so that’s where I think we need to go next.

I have 3 beagles, all were eating Nutro dry and Nutro Ultra canned at the time of the recall. It had been almost 2 weeks since I had stopped giving them that food because of the recall - with no ill effects. Then, one of my beagles started vomiting and wouldn’t eat. That was one week ago, since then she has been in the hospital on iv fluids, meds and had exploratory surgery w/ biopsies ( results not in yet). She is home now resting, but, still not eating and lethargic. All blood tests are normal, x-rays are normal except the small intestine stopped working and the stomach lining inflamed. Urine had some phosphate crystals, but, a second shows none.
What is wrong with her? Very worried.
April 17th, 2007 at 8:05 am
i just switched to Innova Reduced Fat dog food. i switched from Solid Gold to Innova….just put the food in the bin! When now im reading they use Menu Foods plant…but there dry food isnt made in the recalled plants. I am still worried. But should i be? What should i do? Throw away the food? I am at a loss. I switch brands for weight loss issues with my guys not because of the recall………thans for any comments.
April 18th, 2007 at 1:35 am
I am feeding my two corgi’s Natural Balance Raw diet to them. And they have been doing well on a raw diet.
And even though Natural Balance is in the recall with some of the dry food. I have not had any problems with it.
April 18th, 2007 at 2:38 pm
I am feeding Evangers dog wet food and Chicken soup brand with dry wellness, so far these brands are not efected and are healthy natuarl foods. I would not use anything else. and for my cats I am using all dry Premium edge.
April 18th, 2007 at 3:22 pm
I feed high grade dry kibble, currently Royal Canin, but switch periodically because my believe is that switching around it a good thing.
I sometimes mix raw tripe or raw meats.
I am wondering if anyone knows a dry food that makes less poop.
My dogs (standard poodles) are going about three times per day in normal amounts. I am very tired of so much cleaning up and am wondering it this is a necessary amount? Has anyone had good luck with something else. I do not want to feed all raw, as I like most things in moderation, but do not have a problem feeding raw as a portion of the meal.
April 19th, 2007 at 11:33 am
is it safe to feed my dog olroy dry high performance they have ate it for several years and have never been sick so far. i am worried that it could be in the dry since it is in can and treats.?????
April 19th, 2007 at 7:02 pm
i am feeding Eagle Pack Holistic Select. All human grade ingredients. EXCELLENT food!
April 20th, 2007 at 12:32 am
Nutro Ultra –holistic food is not on the recall list and not made by menu foods. My 3 dogs are fine.
April 20th, 2007 at 12:33 am
I should specify this is the nuro ultra holistic is a dry food.

Looking for less poop? Wellness SImple Food Solutions Duck and Brown Rice makes tiny ppop- even from a 75 lb Bull Terrier…
And according to them they are not part of this mess. My bitch is on Canidae (big poops) which is also supposedly not part of the recall.
Hope I am right!

Thanks!

My dogs got sick after eating a non-recalled dry food (Science Diet Adult Small Bites, first meal from new bag). I fed them homemade food for a few weeks until I could get some new food. I chose Nature’s Logic Chicken Fare (dry). You can read about it at the Pet Food List or at the website, www.natureslogic.com. It isn’t sold anywhere near me, so I ordered it from www.onlynaturalpetl.com. The owner of Nature’s Logic is very responsive in answering questions and providing information. I realize that their canned food is made by Menu, but nothing they make has been recalled and their food doesn’t contain any glutens or any rice, corn, wheat or soy, so I’ve decided not to hold Menu against them. The dry food is made at Crosswind in Kansas.
I had some problems trying to transition my dogs to the new food too quickly, so I am still mixing the dry kibble with homemade “stew”. I had printed the recipe from Dr. Michael W. Fox’s website, http://tedeboy.tripod.com/drmichaelwfox/id19.html, and then took it to my vet for review. I have 3 small dogs (7 lbs, 10 lbs & 20 lbs), so I feed each one 1/2 kibble and 1/2 stew, twice a day, adjusted for their sizes. Here’s the stew recipe, as modified by my vet.
4 cups organic whole-grain brown rice (raw)
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon light-flavored olive oil
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 generous pound ground sirloin (can substitute ground turkey or ground lamb)
Put all of these ingredients into a large cooking pot and cover with water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally and adding water as needed, until rice is done. Remove stew from heat and add, while stew is still very hot:
1 sweet potato, peeled and finely grated
Fresh broccoli, finely grated
1 29-ounce can pumpkin (I use Libby’s because it contains nothing but pumpkin)
After stew has cooled, add:
1 tablespoon wheat germ
1 teaspoon brewer’s yeast
1 teaspoon calcium carbonate (powdered)
I freeze this in pint-sized freezer bags. Each bag contains 2 cups and provides enough for one day’s meals for my 3 dogs. By the way, the dogs really love this stuff.

The Fromm Four Star Nutritional line (dry cat and dog food) is made in a family owned plant in Wisconson. It is an excellent food made with no wheat, corn or soy. They are produced in small batches, using only human grade ingredients.
Canidae is also an excellent food, it just has multiple protein sources so might not be the best choice for dogs with certain allergies or overly sensitive tummies. Canidae also has no corn, wheat or soy.
Someone mentioned having a hard time finding canned foods without flour. Evangers, Merrick and Spots Stew are all excellent canned foods without any wheat, corn or soy. Evangers has 100% meat cans, such as Pheasant, Duck, Vension, Chicken, etc. They also have Organic varieties. Merrick produces multiples varieties that even picky dogs will love. Spot’s Stew is made in a USDA kitchen and is great for dogs with allergies.
There are lots of all natural options out there. I suggested going to a local, independent pet boutique/bakery. They usually have very knowledgeable staff and have the animals best interest at heart. Call first and ask if they carry what you’re looking for.
Oh–and don’t feed your dog Ol’Roy. They DO NOT use quality ingredients.
April 22nd, 2007 at 1:04 am
Avoid Old Roy…and foods from large stores generally. Also NO DRY CAT FOOD…THEY NEED MOISTURE IN THEIR FOOD. I’ve been told by a holistic vet and animal nutritionist that these are good brands for dogs: Evo is best, Natures Variety, Merrick,Primal, Newman’s Own, Karma, Innova , CA Natural (all Natura foods) are good and for cats: Innova/Evo (made by Natura Pet), Precise, , Nature’s Variety,
ariety,Petguard & Merrick.

Canadie - This is the dog food our Brittany breeder recommended as a very high quality food. Our Brit preferred the taste of hte Chicken Soup, with which we have been highly satisfied. It appears that any type of gluten & ingredients of corn, wheat or soy can be a way of attaching these glutens and/or become a source of mold. Just a theory.
& There is NO ethoxyquin in Chicken Soup. Check the ingredients on the bag. When people should have been worried about cancer causing agents was with the Science Diet products, which used to contain BHT’s.
Bottom line people - your pet can become ill for multiple reasons - watch for symptoms & react. After a dog becomes ill you should skip a meal at the least & contact your vet for a blood workup if this goes on for more than a single day. Wish the fur kids could tell us themselves what they felt :)

does any one know about orjien dog food -Canada Made
April 23rd, 2007 at 8:39 am
I have been feeding my dogs “Know Better Dog Food -My Master’s Choice”. It is a vitamin supplement you add to raw chicken/turkey and veggies (I use broccoli). They have done great on it and it is a lot easier than some of the other raw food diets.
April 24th, 2007 at 8:20 pm
Orijen is a fantastic food, grain-free, BARF formula kibble, made in Canada with Canadian ingredients, manufactured by the same people who own/operate the business. I can’t say enough good about this line of food for both dogs and cats, including the success we have personally had feeding it to both of my Labs, one who suffers from IBD.
Many of our existing clients as well as many new clients seeking a healthier, safe alternative, have had great success with this food and I have the utmost confidence in their quality ingredients as well as the company itself.
I also carry Innova Evo and Nature’s Variety Raw Instinct (as well as their raw frozen foods) and although they are all good quality foods in my opinion (I’m a big advocate of grain-free diets), the Orijen is my personal favourite not only due to their high inclusion of botanicals, but also their quality manufacturing procedures, and the fact that their ingredients are Canadian.

I feed Natural Balance low calorie dry, canned salmon 2 tbsp. pumkin 2 tbsp., low fat yogurt 2 tbsp, 1 1200 MG fish oil capsule and 1 glucosamin/chondroitin 500mg. 2x per day, I adjust for size by the amount of dry kibble. I have 4 dogs ranging in size from 16 lbs. to 60 lbs.
The black dog border collie/aussie mix, his coat is beautiful, he is 10 years old and has never been so pretty as since I started this diet, about 2 years ago.
I worry to death about the kids, I love them so. Haven’t time myself to make all of their food, so tried to do the next best thing.
Any comments would be appreciated.

I need to know more about Chicken Soup for Dog Lover’s Soul. This is what I’ve feeding my mix Jack Russell for the last 9 months….both dry and wet. Does ethoxyguin cause cancer? Does Chicken Soup use it?
April 25th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
I feed Flint River Dry kibble and Merricks canned and have had no problem plus these are not on any recall lists that I have seen.
April 25th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
I use Life’s Abundance I get it here: http:www.healthynaturaldogfood.com
All the products are manufactured in a USDA facility. All of the ingredients are individually inspected for human quality and carry the APHIS
certification (a European standard for human quality ingredients)
Every vendor must supply an ‘assurance statement’ with each shipment.
This statement must provide nutritional quality of ingredient provided AND
must state it is free from any mold, bacteria, and so forth.
Dr. Jane has the ingredients tested AGAIN before manufacturing to make
sure the quality is as stated AND it meets her standards.
The product is tested 3 times during the manufacturing process - to again assure everything is ‘as it should be’.
The product is tested again after manufacturing and again when it arrives at the warehouse. One bag of food is kept at the warehouse - from each batch - to test in case a Customer has a problem or concern with the product. Each ‘one bag’ from each batch is kept for 6 months.
The products are shipped directly from the warehouse to the Customer - no middleman warehousing (concerns of proper storage and pest control).
Can you say all of that about your current brand of pet food?
Probably not.

What about Avoderm???
April 27th, 2007 at 1:56 am
I myself would not feed my dog anything I could not or should not eat.
I feed my dogs Blue by the Blue Buffalo Company, it’s in Petsmart.
It has all HUMAN grade ingredients.
They use deboned lamb or chicken as their first main ingredient. No corn, wheat or soy, no anything bad for an animal, it’s a family run business.

I have Bichons Frise and recently switched to Kumpi Adult as a kibble. My dogs really like it. For many years I used Wysong products and found it to be an excellent food. I only made a switch as I thought it was time for a change. Both companies make dog and cat food but I can only speak for dog. Not many people on these blogs seem to know of Wysong. It is a small company with very high quality foods and an interesting philosophy. They have a website. Might be worth a look. I no longer use any canned food and make a chicken or salmon based stew to replace it. Hope this helps.

Everyone here is talking about dog food I have never heard of. What about good ole Beneful dry food and their wet food. We leave out the dry food and give the wet as a treat after we (the humans) eat dinner.
April 27th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
“Good Ole Beneful” is full of….well, let’s take a look:
*Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, whole wheat flour*
That’s the top 4 ingredients in their original formula. Wheat, corn and soy are the top three allergans for dogs and should NOT be included in their food, let alone be 3 out of 4 of the top ingredients. The other ingredient is by-product. That means feet, beaks, feathers, diseased meat, infected meat, could be ANYTHING.
Not something I would feed anyone, except perhaps the CEO of Purina.
April 27th, 2007 at 5:14 pm
The best I can compare it to is feeding Beneful is like feeding a Macdonald, fries and a coke versus feeding a well balanced, healthy and well cooked meal when you use higher grade dog foods. It is all in the ingredient lists on the labels. A very helpful site to find information on lots of companies is PetsitUSA. They have all the non recalled foods and most will take you right to the company websites. Many of the better foods can be found at pet supply shops, feed stores or on line. They are usually not in grocery type stores. Hope that helps.
April 27th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
Hello all!
I feed Wellness dry - it’s the only food I’ve found on the market that specifically states that it uses “ethoxiquin free protein sources” (ethoxiquin is a carcinogenic, I believe a rubber preservative). I just saw on Wellness’s website that they also have a new wet food for canines, their 95% products that have no grains and they also have a new dry food for felines that is grain free. Wellness is made by Old Mother Hubbard and buys most of it’s grain from U.S.A. sources.
Innova EVO makes grain free treats, I haven’t found another brand that does as of yet.
I hope all your pets stay healthy and happy!
April 28th, 2007 at 11:17 am
I’ve fed Diamond Beef & Rice dry food and Lamb & Rice dry food to my rescue dogs for 13 years. Very good premium dog foods, but much less expensive than some of the better-known brands. The dogs are healthy, robust, with good coats and good poops.
I recently started feeding my older dogs [10+ years] Canidae dry food. More expensive, but human-grade ingredients, and those dogs are also doing great with good coats and small firm poops. Canidae offers a Breeder-Trainer-Rescue frequent-buyer program.
I’d strongly recommend either of these brands to concerned pet guardians.
April 28th, 2007 at 11:44 pm
I feed Nature’s Variety Raw (Venison) and Nature’s Variety Salmon Meal and Brown Rice. My pups really seem to love it!
April 30th, 2007 at 12:02 am
I feed my 3 year old Yorkie Evo by Innovva both the dry and canned and also the wet food by Merrick (Thanksgiving dinner). She had eaten Blue Buffalo wet and dry for months but then refused to eat it. Blue Buffalo is produced by a Connecticut company. It also started to give her loose stools. Prior to the Blue, she ate Flint River Ranch dry.
Please tell me about the Evo by Innova as it has not been recalled. There is no wheat gluten in the dry or wet. Is it safe?
Also, I am feeding my 2 cats Evo Cat Food by Innova. They get canned Merrick foods. They were eating fancy feast wet and dry which I began to mix with the Evo dry as they are a bit fussy and were used to the Fancy Feast dry. my goal was to wean them off the fancy Feast dry and eventually the wet food as well. That was even before I learned that the wet and dry fancy Feast contain wheat gluten. Now they only eat the Evo dry and the Merrick wet. Hopefully these are safe foods. Your comments?
Thanks!
April 30th, 2007 at 4:17 pm
Hello: Does anyone use PHD dry food products (both cat and dog)? I just purchased some, but am afraid to use it until I hear comments - also don’t know which NY plant manufacturers their food - they say it’s proprietary information … thank you!
May 1st, 2007 at 7:19 am
I feel that the only way you can protect your pets and yourself is to buy 100% organic and make your own pet food.
Don’t allow yourself to be brainwashed by pet food manufactures, the media and veterinarians who sell pet food into believing that you can’t provide your pet with the nutrients it needs. I would be very careful in choosing a pet supplement. Check with the company to make sue they don’t source their ingredients from China.
If you have health problems that prevent you from making your own pet food, there is one brand that appears to be a safe choice. Check out Evangers pet food… http://www.evangersdogfood.com.....sion1.html
Evangers is a small company that has their own plant. They use human USDA grade food that you can actually eat! The suppliments they use is made in the US. Evangers told me that they do not source any of their ingredients from China.

Hi all,
I am a canine nutrition consultant with an extremely lively yahoogroup - my contribution to this crisis has been to set up online tutorials using the new NRC guidelines and offer instructions on how to formulate and balance your individual dog’s diet. We aren’t suggesting everyone go raw diet, it’s important that both the dog and owner feel comfortable with the home made food, which will mean cooked foods in many cases, and even if you do choose raw, it still needs to be properly balanced. The URL to my group is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ThePossibleCanine. As a professional nutritionist, I can no longer recommend any commercial foods in good faith, so there is a huge need for public education about how to home feed. These tutorials and recipes are my way of helping out a bit.

Is anyone feeding thier dog Bil Jac? I am thinking of switching to this.
May 2nd, 2007 at 2:03 am
Switched my 15 yr old Maltese to Fargo FarMore natural raw (frozen) 5 days ago. Her inner “wolf” emerged the minute she tasted it! She appears physically and mentally better than she has in the past year. Found it at my local pet food store where the owner brings it in for some local PD for their working dogs. You can check it out at farmoredogfood.com. Since start of recall, she was eating Flint River Ranch and Kumpi (both excellent dry foods), mixed with Ceasar.
Has anyone tried Wildkitty (frozen raw) for their cats?
May 2nd, 2007 at 8:21 am
I was feeding Blue Buffalo until half their products were recalled last week, I have now switched to Eagle Pack dry it’s Holistic, dog(Pug) loves it.
May 2nd, 2007 at 5:51 pm

Great coats Great energy Natura make EVO and Calf. natural as well all real good products.
May 2nd, 2007 at 11:26 pm
Kerri:
I am feeding Bil Jac Large Breed Select. It’s excellent. I also have 17 dogs; I don’t care about price. I am NOT going to lose my furry friend family over this recall fiasco. The company is located 30 miles from my home. I live in Ohio.
May 3rd, 2007 at 10:44 am
We feed both our dogs BilJac, started when our first one was small, and had problems with gas and bloating. Heard about BilJac at PetSmart, and have been feeding it since. Both dogs are healthy, at the right weight, and doing very well. And so far, we have not had to worry about the recall, since there is no wheat gluten in the food. I would recommend it.

I have a 1-year-old Westie — since August, have been feeding him Canidae Chicken and Rice (dry mixed with some wet), plus an occasional Canidae treat . He loves the food! He just had his 1-year checkup and appears to be the picture of health! I have confidence in Canidae because of the human-grade ingredients and the fact that none of the ingredients come from outside the U.S.
May 5th, 2007 at 9:09 am
I use Evo Innova for one of my dogs, and have seen it on the list, but my concern is they are recalling more every day. I dont feel comforable any longer using commercial brands. I had been using Natural Balance Fish and potatoe on the others, and it appears that one has not been recalled…..only the Venison diet in that brand…but, I have stopped using it anyway, for fear it will be added. Im assuming it the venison has been recalled because it containes rice,….the fish diet does not. I now have begun cooking for my dogs to be safe. 2 questions….what supplements would be best, if cooking (im using veggies, brown rice and either chicken or beef)……ALSO….I still use the Natural Balance Log Rolls for training/showing treats, where you slice them….no rice in them…they are not the dried treats or cookies….Have the rollover rolls been recalled? I see Nat Balance is on the treat list.

I have 3 dogs in my care at this time and switched to Blue Lamb and Rice. I also supplement the kibble with healthy foods (chicken, beef, turkey, pumkin, raw meatloaf for dogs [satin balls], etc..)
My dogs have never looked better. I foster for American Bulldog rescue and have over 300lbs of dogs running around. Blue Buffalo Dry dog food has been a wonderful change in my household and not that much more in price. I would suggest it to anyone. Also try Missing Link Plus as a supplement if your dog needs extra glucosamine mix.

My dog eats Gravy Train food…. Not treats, thank God! I’m glad they didn’t do a recall on MilkBones….
It’s bagged dry-food, but if you want to taste gravy, so wet it. It’s a strange dog food, but my dog loves, so it seems.

My dog had renal failure, acute…now it is chronic. I don’t know whether food
was the problem as this was last May 2006. But my experiences may be helpful. IV is just for liquids and is necessary for a max of 48 hours. If animal is sick, get kidney biopsy. I used the UC Davis Center for Veterinary Medicine in San Diego(del mar) that specializes in renal failure . They have dialysis units there. My dog was saved by 4 treatments…but is still chronic. I also had the biopsy first. If your dog is not eating, ask the vet about putting a feeding tube in him. I did that too and it made a big difference. But IVs do not provide nutrition….my dog was so skinny before I changed vets and got him the proper treatment.

I don’t think that the chicken soup foods cause cancer. Its one of the best suposdedly! but I do prefer Evangers but some cans are only be used as a mix. In my opinion Wellness dry, Innova and timer wolf orangics are the best! There is a food that Walmart sells called Natural life in the can and its very good and you don’t have to go to a special store to get it. None of any have been efected and I hope they don’t .

My advice to everyone is to keep looking at the pet food recall notices. I was told that Blue Buffalo was totally safe and could be consumed by humans. I haven’t been checking because they were not on the intital recall and I trusted what I was told about their products. A good friend just told me that she saw them on the recall list. Sure enough they are there. After all this time they are finally fessing up. I am disgusted!! We normally make our own food but when we run out I use Blue (for the past four days). Now, one of my dogs is not feeling well and not eating. Needless to say, I am really really angry at that company and will never trust their products again.
