Woman Who Stabbed Dog Will Go To Trial

Warning: This story may disturb some readers.

A woman who has been accused of stabbing her ex-husband’s dog 27 times last year during an argument will be going on trial in August for cruelty to an animal. The dog was so badly injured that she had to be euthanized.

Prosecutors are seeking an 8-year prison sentence. The charge has been bumped up to a third degree felony which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison because a deadly weapon, a knife, was used. The woman’s lawyer says that “eight years in the state penitentiary for this crime is extreme to me.”

lawyer thinks potential sentence is excessive? perhaps he should be stabbed 27 times and then asked again if he thinks it’s too harsh.

pat, that’s exactly my first thought.

Once again….whatever cruel disgusting thing a human does to a defenseless animal is exactly what should be done to them as their punishment. No question.

8 year sentence…sounds good to me.

Only 8 - 10 years? Now what if it had been the woman’s husband that was stabbed? What would the sentence be for that? Life in prison, death row? I simply can’t grasp the concept that many people have (such as this attorney). I hate the phrase that it’s “only a dog or only a cat”. These animals have the same right to life as humans do, and punishment for such crimes should equal the severity of the victims injuries or death. I’d be afraid of even being around this woman considering she is so violent. She apparently attacked her husband before the dog. The man was able to defend himself. The poor little dog couldn’t.

I have got to agree with KarlaSanDiego….let the human suffer the same pain and violence.

As we all know people who abuse animals get away with a slap on the wrist. At least she’s getting some jail time. Should be more but …
